NBA Las Vegas Summer League: Day 4
It is time for the much anticipated Las Vegas Summer League in the NBA where the new draft picks get to show what they are made of. This is a one of a kind opportunity for those players still looking to make G-League rosters and fit into their new NBA rotations. We will update as much as possible with early scouting reports and handicaps for wagering. We got off to a good SL start so let us keep it goin’. We are betting 1 unit to win x.
NBA Las Vegas Summer League Record: (+8.84 units)
5:00pm cst: Memphis Grizzlies -4.5 vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
The Grizzlies are favored here due the strong players they have like Kenneth Lofton Jr., David Roddy, Jake LaRavia and GG Jackson. This Cavaliers team has a strong front court that could probably handle themselves with Isaiah Mobley, Emoni Bates and Pete Nance. This Cavs team can hold its own and I prefer them here because I think they will be ready for the competition. Feel free to take the points but the spread has come into play maybe in just the Rockets v. Blazers game.
Pick: Cavaliers ML (+155)
5:30pm cst: Phoenix Suns vs. Miami Heat -5
I have talked this Miami team up all week and they continue to show up. Between Nikola Jovic, Omar Robinson and Drew Peterson. No clue if Jaime Jaquez will play or not. This Suns team is very bare. This is a short number in my opinion if the Heat’s regular rotation is playing. I can’t back the Suns and that roster.
Pick: Heat -5 (-110)
7:00pm cst: Philadelphia 76ers vs. Dallas Mavericks -4
I was surprised when I saw this line because I thought the Sixers would be favored. The 76ers have been great for us while the Mavs bring in a weaker lineup to Summer League. Dallas does have Jaden Hardy, Derrick Lively, OMax, Jelly Walker and Mike Miles Jr. but they got ran over by the Thunder. On paper the Mavericks have a strong team but I will side with Philly tonight. I like Jaden Springer, Javonte Smart, Tubelis, Ricky Council IV and Terquavion Smith a bit more with the SL experience they have thus far. Also, it is starting to look like these big money NBA player are a bit hungover the past couple days. It is showing.
Pick: 76ers ML (+155)
7:30pm cst: Indiana Pacers -6 vs. Orlando Magic
Y'all know I am very high on this Pacers team and if their core is playing, which I expect them too they will take care of business. This number opened 5.5 went up to 6.5 and is now down to 6. Orlando is led by Anthony Black but they still have a weak roster. This should be a big game from Indiana. Their roster is full of NBA ready talent.
Pick: Pacers -6 (-110)
9:00pm cst: Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Utah Jazz -2
The money has been pouring in on the Timberwolves all day. This number was Utah -4 last night. This game is going to be the Minnesota defense against the Utah offense. Keep your eye out for Leonard Miler for the T-Wolves what a steal getting him from the Spurs. San Antonio will regret this trade. I also like Josh Minott from Memphis who you will see pick up the ball from full court and press all game. Utah will be have a high powered offense with Keyonte George, Brice Sensabaugh, Johnny Juzang, Joey Hauser and Ochai Agbaji. They also have two extra games from Salt Lake City under their belt. Give me this Jazz team until Minnesota proves they can defeat an offensive team.
Pick: Jazz -2 (-110)
9:30pm cst: Sacramento Kings -2 vs. Los Angeles Clippers
We talked about this on Saturday, the Clippers do not have much of a roster. Sacramento even without Keegan Murray they have a couple extra games under their belt with a decent roster. The Kings will have Souley Boum from Xavier, Kessler Edwards from Pepperdine and Colby Jones from Xavier who have a little more power than LA. I rather have the experience here with the Kings than this slim Clippers roster.
Pick: Kings -2 (-110)
