We get our first installment of NFL Friday Night Lights this season, and it should be a great NFC matchup. We have a Green Bay team that overperformed with first-year starter Jordan Love and a Philly squad that finished the season ice cold. Will the addition of Saquon Barkley fix their woes?

The Philadelphia offense added All-Pro Saquon Barkley and Jahan Dotson, but they lost All-Pro center Jason Kelce. Losing a franchise center is huge and not easy to replace. The Eagles had a great running back in Deandre Swift last season, so I don’t think the addition of Saquon matters too much.

Jordan Love is now the paid starter, and all eyes are on him in Green Bay as the next franchise quarterback. His two predecessors won Super Bowls. The Packers will be healthy on offense tonight, which they were not used to last season. The Eagles’ defense was poor last season and is looking to turn that around. They will have some new faces on defense after continuously getting cooked by offenses at the end of the season. Can their power run game power through the Packers’ defense? Green Bay has a new defensive coordinator, so they should be prepared to step up tonight.

I don’t trust the Eagles’ defense, nor do I trust Jalen Hurts. After a poor season last year, this Eagles team needs to prove something to us. Green Bay is healthy and ready to go on both sides of the football. I prefer the Green Bay upside on defense against what could be a powerful Eagles offense. Can Jalen Hurts turn things around for the Eagles? I guess we will find out tonight, but I am betting no. Either take the plus money with the moneyline or take the points. As we saw last night, every point is important. After the Ravens thought they scored a touchdown, Harbaugh wanted to go for the two-point conversion, which would have ruined any chance at the Chiefs cover. Obviously, that didn’t happen, but I will continue to say it: every point is important in the NFL.
