A rivalry is renewed tonight between the Redskins and Eagles in Philadelphia. Both teams are at the top of the NFC East, but the Redskins will be coming off a tough loss against the Steelers on Sunday. Since the Eagles' bye week, they have been dominant. However, everything may not be what it seems with the Eagles. The Eagles have defeated the Browns with Watson at QB, the New York Giants, the Bengals, Jaguars, and the QB-less Cowboys. This may be one of the most unimpressive lists of wins in the NFL. The Commanders' recent wins are similar, but they have also faced the Ravens and Steelers, both ending in losses.
The Redskins have a terrible run defense, and I expect the Eagles to do everything they can to exploit that while opening up the pass. The Eagles have been able to boost up their pass defense numbers against their soft schedule. I think the Commanders can hurt them once again through the air. The Commanders did a great job against a much better defense in Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Tonight, we will find out which team is the real deal and the leader of the NFC East. Are the Eagles really as good as they have looked against lesser competition? I believe their game against the Jaguars was very telling. The Jaguars kept giving them opportunities, but it was a game the Jaguars could have won. How will the Commanders handle adversity? This is obviously a huge game for rookie QB Jaylen Daniels and OC Kliff Kingsbury. There has been plenty of talk this week about Kingsbury not being able to handle the gales of November.
Money has been coming in on the Eagles all day. Not much resistance from the Commanders. That's fine with me. I think the Eagles' hot run has been inflated due to weak competition. I also feel like the Eagles' defense is not as good as the inflated numbers suggest. The Redskins are tested and have the passing attack to give the Eagles problems. I'm curious to see how the Washington running game does with Brian Robinson Jr. back in the lineup. I can see this game becoming a grinder and not a shootout. To me, this game will be about the defenses. We know both of these offenses are good and explosive. It's the defenses that will need to come up big tonight.
