XFL Championship: Arlington Renegades vs. D.C. Defenders
After version 3.0 of the XFL we have made it to the Championship game between the Arlington Renegades and the D.C. Defenders. With the new addition to the Renegades via trade, Luis Perez has put this team over the edge and into the title game. D.C. will be bringing its multifaceted offense and strong defense to put a stop to Luis Perez and the Renegades offense.
The Defenders have only lost 1 game all season and come into this game as 7 point favorites. Luis Perez threw for 289 yards and 3 TD in the Semi-Final game in impressive fashion. He had some help from RB De’Veon Smith who toted the rock 24 times for 94 yards. JaVonte Payton was Perez’ favorite target with 5 grabs for 121 yards and 2 touchdowns. They will look to duplicate that performance against Greg Williams’ defense, which is the best in the XFL.
The Defenders advanced after a shootout victory against the Seattle Sea Dragons where they needed to score 37 points to get the job done. The Defenders run a two QB system that has been surprisingly successful for them. QB Jordan Ta’amu had 258 yards passing with 2 TDs but also 2 interceptions. Turnovers have plagued Ta’amu all season that is why QB D’Eriq King has gotten his fair share of playing time as well. How will Ta’amu handle his turnover issue in the Championship game? Will King be the difference maker tonight? There are so many QB storylines going into the Championship game.
A man with plenty of Championship experience, Big Game Bob Stoops will take the field looking to get the Arlington Renegades the 1st ever illustrious XFL Championship. On the other sideline there will be XFL Coach of the Year in Reggie Barlow for the D.C. Defenders who also led the league in scoring looking to spoil the Renegades party. Everything is on the line in San Antonio, Texas tonight. Get the beer snakes ready we should be in for a good one!
I like the way Luis Perez has been playing for the Renegades since his trade from Vegas. Too many points in a game of this magnitude so I’ll take the TD with the Arlington Renegades with the game total going over 48 in what looks to be a track meet. Both of these teams can score and are very capable of scoring on defense so that cannot be ignored. I can’t wait to close out the 1st season of XFL 3.0.
Pick: Renegades +7 & Over 48
