Sony Open in Hawaii Round 2

We are back in PGA action for the first time this season, and what better place to start than the Waialae Country Club? Last year, Si Woo Kim was victorious with a one-shot lead over Hayden Buckley. This is the first full-field event, marking the first opportunity for these golfers to earn FedEx points. Last week’s winner, Chris Kirk, will look to be the first golfer to win back-to-back tournaments to start the season since Ernie Els did it in 2003.
The Field:
Chris Kirk leads the way into Honolulu after his victory at the Sentry Open. He will be making his 14th start at the Sony Open in Hawaii, where he has five top-10 finishes, including a tie for second in 2021. The highest ranked player in the field will be Matt Fitzpatrick, who is No. 8 in the World Golf Rankings and finished 14th last week. Kevin Kisner will also be in the field, making his 300th start and has four top-five finishes at the Sony Open, with two coming in 2020 and 2022. Will Zalatoris is back on the PGA tour, making his debut at Waialae Country Club. He is not the only one making his debut here. There will be 15 rookies and five new PGA Tour Members from the DP World Tour, also debuting as full-time PGA Tour Members.
The Course:
Waialae Country Club has been the only host of this tournament since its inception in 1965. The course plays as the fifth-shortest (7,044 yards - Par 70) on tour and has bermudagrass greens.
