NBA Las Vegas Summer League: Day 5

It is time for the much anticipated Las Vegas Summer League in the NBA where the new draft picks get to show what they are made of. This is a one of a kind opportunity for those players still looking to make G-League rosters and fit into their new NBA rotations. We will update as much as possible with early scouting reports and handicaps for wagering. We got off to a good SL start so let us keep it goin’. We are betting 1 unit to win x.

NBA Las Vegas Summer League Record: (+9.21 units)

ould be favored. The 76ers have been great for us while the Mavs bring in a weaker lineup to Summer League. Dallas does have Jaden Hardy, Derrick Lively, OMax, Jelly Walker and Mike Miles Jr. but they got ran over by the Thunder. On paper the Mavericks have a strong team but I will side with Philly tonight. I like Jaden Springer, Javonte Smart, Tubelis, Ricky Council IV and Terquavion Smith a bit more with the SL experience they have thus far. Also, it is starting to look like these big money NBA player are a bit hungover the past couple days. It is showing.

  • 5:00pm cst: Brooklyn Nets vs. Milwaukee Bucks -2.5

I feel like this is close to an evenly matched game but I give the deeper Bucks roster the edge here. The Nets like to get out and run so this should be a high paced game. Milwaukee will be a step up in competion for them after they played a poor Knicks team. The Bucks’ Nico Manion has shown some progress, Tacko Fall has even played solid minutes and MarJon Beauchamp has been great. I do not think the Nets will be used to the defense the Bucks have. I prefer the deeper Bucks roster here.

Pick: Bucks -2.5 (-110)

  • 5:30pm cst: Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder -5.5

Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason are being shut down for the summer. With Amen Thompson already injured that leaves a thin roster with Cam Whitmore leading the way. It sounds like the Thunder will have their regular starters still playing. I think this is a good spot for the Thunder off of long rest. I do not think the Rockets will have enough scoring to keep up.

Pick: Thunder -5.5 (-110)

  • 7:00pm cst: Phoenix Suns vs. New Orleans Pelicans -5

The Suns have actually been playing hard but have been fading at the ends of games, which is mostly due to the lack of depth and talent. The Pelicans are one of the best teams with Dyson Daniels leading the way with Jordan Hawkins and some other surprises. They have been getting good minutes from Dereon Seaborn who scored 25 points last game. If this roster continues to play like this then they should have no problem taking care of business this game.

Pick: Pelicans -5 (-110)

  • 7:30pm cst: Portland Trail Blazers -5.5 vs. Charlotte Hornets

Without Scoot Henderson in the lineup this Portland team played a great game in a victory against the Spurs. This Hornets team is very terrible. Even Brandon Miller can’t seem to put anything together. There is absolutely no reason to take the Hornets until they prove otherwise.

Pick: Trail Blazers -5.5 (-115)

  • 9:00pm cst: Chicago Bulls vs. Sacramento Kings -1.5

The Kings played terrible yesterday. The aggressive defense from the Clippers gave them all kinds of problems. They do not have a good offense. Kessler Edwards has been extremely soft and unimpressive. The Bulls actually have a decent team that will be aggressive. Kings are also on a back to back.

Pick: Bulls ML (+100)

  • 9:30pm cst: Washington Wizards vs. San Antonio Spurs -1

I have been impressed with how hard the Wizards played in their last game. The Spurs were the opposite and played terribly except for Victor Wembanyama who will not be playing the rest of SL. San Antonio still has a strong squad. Because the Spurs played so bad their last time out I expect a much more focused performance.

Pick Spurs -1 (-110)
