MLB American League Futures

The new MLB season is upon us, which means a clean slate of futures. I will attempt to give you updates throughout the season on the futures market and some good number to jump at. Many bettors, especially baseball fans love the futures market due to the volatility of a 162 game MLB schedule. It offers a wide range of options that we will look to explore for our audience. Let’s jump into it!

2023 AL MVP Award:

  • Texas Rangers, SS, Corey Seager: +45/1 via FanDuel Sportsbook

Seager is coming off a great debut season with the Texas Rangers. Seager is rolling into his prime at 28 years old and has put up power number at Globe Life Field. I was hoping this number would be a little higher because 45/1 to feels a bit short especially when Marcus Semien is 100/1. The number on Seager tells us he is ready for his breakout season but I would wait until this number slips a bit. Someone on this Ranger team will breakout this season. More to come!

  • Houston Astros, SS, Jeremy Peña: 120/1 via FanDuel Sportsbook

Peña finished the season hotter than any other player by winning a Gold Glove, ALCS MVP and World Series MVP. This team is flooded with heavy hitters but Jeremy Peña’s ability to play both sides helps his MVP case. As a rookie Peña showed immense talent and I feel as long as he is healthy Peña will pick up where he left off.

  • Tampa Bay Rays, OF, Randy Arozarena: 100/1 via Draft Kings

Arozarena is only 3 years off his rookie MVP performance in the World Series. He looked like he was in great form in the World Baseball Classic and could pick up where he left off. Arozarena is only 28 years old so he’s also in his prime on a strong Rays team. This is a long number on a healthy Arozarena who was on the all WBC team that is showing signs he is back to his MVP ways.

2023 AL CY Young Award:

  • Houston Astros, SP, Luis Garcia: 80/1 via Draft Kings

Garcia has had back to back strong years for the Astros. Many pitchers have low odds where there are not very many opportunities for buy low opportunities before the season starts. I think this is a great number for Garcia unlike Framber Valdez at 15/1. This is a great lotto number on a World Series caliber Astros team.

  • Texas Rangers, SP, Martin Perez: 150/1 via Draft Kings

Journeyman Martin Perez had the best season of his career last year. Perez is only 31 even though it feels like he is much older. Perez will also not have the pressure of being the ace on the roster now with Jacob deGrom leading the staff. Perez will need to match his output from last year but his is an incredible number that is hard to pass up before Opening Day.

2023 AL Rookie of the Year:

  • Texas Rangers, 3B, Josh Jung: 20/1 via Draft Kings

A healthy Josh Jung showed some power once he was brought up to the Show at the end of last season. Unless you are targeting a player who has yet to reach the big leagues, you won’t find many high numbers. Except, I would consider this a nice price for a player that should be getting plenty of starting playing time at 3B. He has the power and hitting ability to keep pace with any of the AL rookies.
