College Baseball Friday
We are rolling pretty hot into the 2nd official weekend of college baseball. We have done a great job in picking our spots so let’s continue on that trend. The sportsbooks can’t really book these matchups accurately. I’m sure they are using an algorithm to set the lines but more times than not they are not accurate and it leaves the door wide open to take advantage. We will also have the Texas & West Cost write up available as well here:
3/3/23: West Coast College Baseball
3/3/23: Texas College Baseball
There is not always college baseball articles on the weekends so be sure to follow on Twitter for the updates and plays. We will have all the college baseball gambling insight and discussion you could ask for. Let’s get after it!
(Betting lines via Draft Kings Sports Book: $100 = 1 unit).
College Baseball record: 20-14 (+8.94 units)
College Baseball:
3/3/23: Charlotte 49ers (+125) vs. #16 Virginia Tech Hokies (-155); total; 12:00pm
The #16 Virginia Tech Hokies play host to the Charlotte 49ers in a 3 game series. with the 16th highest scoring average in the country at 10.4 runs/game. The offense is led by senior Chris Cannizzaro who’s batting .471/.500/.882 (BA/OB/SLG) with 3 HR & 10 RBI. The Hokies will start RHP Griffin Green (0-1, 6.52 ERA) who had a solid outing in his first start of the season against College of Charleston but was roughed up by Bryant allowing 6 runs. No info on the Charlotte but my gut says this number is too low for VT.
Pick: Virginia Tech (-155); $100 bet to win $64.52
3/3/23: #4 Ole Miss Rebels (-195) vs. #22 Maryland Terrapins (+160); total 12.5; 3:00pm ct
These two have already met in a 3 game series earlier this season where Ole Miss won 2/3 games. This matchup will be in the Cambria College Classic in US Bank Stadium in Minnesota. Ole Miss will be starting RHP Jack Dougherty (0-1, 4.26 ERA) who pitched in the game the Rebels loss to the Terps. He had some command issues and walked 2 batters allowing 3 earned runs. Now Dougherty and the Rebs will be on the road and this Terrapins offense is powerful. We don’t have any information on the Maryland starter but I like its offense to jump out again and this price is too nice to pass up in this situation.
Pick: Maryland (+160); $100 bet to win $160
3/3/23: Georgia Southern Eagles (-135) vs. UCF Knights (+105); total 12.5; 5:00pm ct
UCF is (7-1) coming into this game full of momentum after sweeping Clemson at home in a 3 game series. This is the first road series of the season for the Eagles and they are nothing to scoff at. Georgia Southern will be starting LHP Ty Fisher (1-0, 3.00 ERA) who has been solid to start the season with 10 strikeouts and only 2 walks. For UCF they will be starting senior RHP Ruddy Gomez (1-0, 4.66) who struggled against Siena but shut down a much better Clemson team. UCF also has a powerful offense that ranks 2nd in the country in Home Runs and Slugging. I want to take the red hot Knights here as a short home dog.
Pick: UCF (+105); $100 bet to win $105
3/3/23: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (-120) vs. Georgia Bulldogs (-110); total 12.5 ; 5:00pm ct
The Rambling Wreck from Georgia Tech head into Athens with an undefeated (9-0) record. The Bulldogs may not be undefeated but do have a (6-2) record and will have revenge on its mind after losing both games against GT last year. Georgia Tech will be starting RHP Dawson Brown (1-0, 8.31 ERA) who has been roughed up plenty to start the season. Georgia will be starting LHP Jaden Woods (1-0, 5.40 ERA) but is holding opponents’ batting average to .167. This is a great spot for Georgia’s offense to take advantage of GT weak SP and lean on Woods to hold strong until the bullpen can get involved. The Bulldog offense is led by RS freshman Charlie Condon who is batting .556, 2 HR & 15 RBI. This is a great spot for UGA in game 1.
Pick: Georgia (-110); $100 bet to win $90.91
3/3/23: #19 South Carolina Gamecocks (-110) vs. Clemson Tigers (-120); total 10; 5:00pm ct
Very tight line here in this rivalry game where the undefeated Gamecocks travel to face the (4-4) Tigers. Clemson is on a 4 game losing streak after starting the season in a positive direction. The Gamecocks will start RHP Will Sanders (1-0, 2.00 ERA) in 9 innings of work with 9 strikeouts. The Tigers will start RHP Austin Gordon (0-0, 6.10 ERA) in 10.1 innings of work with 10 strikeouts, allowing opponents to hit .300 off him (7 earned runs). South Carolina is #1 in the country in HRs & 6th in ERA. This Gamecocks team is loaded and I don’t think Gordon will be prepared for what’s coming.
Pick: South Carolina (-110); $100 bet to win $90.91
3/3/23: #8 Miami Hurricanes (+120) vs. #2 Florida Gators (-150); total 11; 5:30pm ct
We have a top 10 matchup in the Sunshine State tonight with both teams are coming off losses to in state schools. Miami will be starting RHP Gage Ziehl (1-1, 11.57 ERA) who has been rough up pretty good in each start this season. No info on the Gators’ SP at this time but this is a nice fade of Ziehl here to kick off the rivalry game. The one thing the Gators have is a high powered offense and its led by Jac Caglianone the do it all sophomore. He pitches and is hitting .410/.477/1.077 with 8 HR & 15 RBI. If Ziehl continues with his struggles this Florida offense should take advantage and that is what I’m betting on.
Pick: Florida (-140); $100 bet to win $66.67
