Our DDSN Members Club Official Card went out early this morning. An hour before the games start, if I still like the current number, I will post it for DDSN Nation. Whichever number is posted here will count towards our regular season record, while the Members Club record will remain separate. We may add more games to this card as well throughout the day depending on how we are doing and numbers. Let’s go!
6:30PM CST: Boston College vs. Florida State -16.5; Total 51.5
We have an interesting ACC prime-time game tonight, and it’s interesting in a good way. Florida State will be trying to shake off a loss in Ireland against Georgia Tech. This will be Boston College’s first game of the season with new head coach Bill O’Brien. Let’s get into it.
The best way to describe the Seminoles’ performance against Georgia Tech would be lackluster. It is no secret that Florida State’s talent pool was absolutely depleted after last season, and it showed in Game 1. DJ Uiagalelei isn’t getting any better between Week 0 and now. He had some major accuracy issues. I think Florida State will lean more on their running game. The problem was that GT played great defense. Florida State has to put the game in the hands of their offensive line and running backs. BC will need to force DJU to win the game.
What Florida State struggled with against Georgia Tech could hurt them again tonight. Boston College has a capable dual-threat quarterback and a great running game that could punish FSU. The Boston College defense will need to make plays, especially on 3rd downs.
I believe Florida State will lean on the running game tonight but how long will that last until they face a 3rd and long? Boston College returns everyone on defense from last season, which should help them. They also played FSU close last year, but I would not put too much stock in that. I think the BC rushing attack will give FSU problems. If that happens, they could keep this game close. FSU runs away with this game if DJU has an incredible game.
The Golden Eagles will grind this game down using their experienced QB and running backs, just like GT did. If they can make stops on 3rd down, this game will stay close. Florida State is hard to trust, even at home with DJU under center. The Seminoles’ defense is also weak. Too many points to lay with FSU. I also think this game goes under.
Think about it: FSU was favored by 21 last year with a team full of NFL players and a healthy QB. Now, they are favored by 16.5 at home. Only a 4.5-point difference after losing so much talent? Just because they are at home? I’m not buying it!
