USFL Saturday

USFL Record (0-0)

After we ran a poll on Twitter asking if we should begin to cover the USFL after the XFL’s season came to an end resulted in a resounding YES. Here we are ready to dig into the USFL, its teams and of course the betting lines for the games. Let’s jump into these games as we are about halfway through the USFL season

  • 11:30am cst: Pittsburgh Maulers (-2.5) vs. Memphis Showboats

Both of these teams are are (2-3) on the season and after this interleague matchup one will make it .500 on the season. A win for the Maulers would catapult them into 1st place in the North. Pittsburgh is led by dual threat QB Troy Williams that many may recognize from his time at Utah. He ranks 7th in passing yards and 7th in rushing yards in the USFL after only starting in 3 games but he has played in all 5. The Maulers have the best defense in the league only allowing 17.2 points per game. On the other sideline the Memphis Showboats have the 3rd worst defense in the league allowing 23.8 PPG. Fortunately for Memphis they have the 3rd best passing offense to try and help offset the defensive woes. I feel like we will have plenty of points in this game. We will have 2 of the 3 worst pass defenses going at it. It is the perfect setup for points. Will the Pittsburgh offense be able to keep up with Memphis? This may be a good chance to take a shot with the dog here especially with Memphis playing a true home game.

Pick: Showboats +2.5 (-105) & Over 41.5 (-110)

  • 3:00pm cst: Birmingham Stallions (-6) vs. Michigan Panthers

In the 2nd game of the day we will have another interleague matchup with the (3-2) Stallions visiting the (2-3) Panthers who will be hosting in a true home game. Birmingham has the 2nd worst defense in the league currently while the Panthers are 5th. Neither are great. Birmingham has the 2nd best passing offense with QB Alex McGough leading the way. The main difference between these two offenses is McGough and the Stallions don’t turn the ball over as much as the Panthers do. Turnovers have plagued Michigan this season. I don’t like how they turn the ball over and I don’t think the Panther offense can keep pace with the Stallions. Also, it’s a Stallions game so there will definitely be points especially in a dome.

Pick: Stallions -6 (-110)& Over 44.5 (-110)
