In the final episode of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Team McGregor’s Rico DiSciullo takes on Cody Gibson for a chance to take on the season 27 winner of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Brad Katona, in the bantamweight finale.
To begin the first round, DiSciullo looks to pressure Gibson, throwing some jabs, but Gibson responds landing some calf kicks. Rico goes for a takedown and stumbles, missing, and Cody capitalizes, landing a takedown of his own and attempting to cinch in a rear-naked choke.
DiSciullo has some fight in him as he is able to fight from his back to his knees, attempting to claw back into the fight. Gibson again takes top mount, landing punches in bunches. The fight looks to be over, and Rico’s coach, Conor McGregor, is yelling for him to escape: “Half guard! Half guard, Rico!” Eventually, Rico slips out and escapes.
Gibson lands another takedown, bringing Disciullo to the cage and gaining top mount. In this position, Gibson cinches in an arm triangle, wrapping his arm around the neck of Disciullo and squeezing. With 28 seconds left in the first round, DiSciullo taps out.
The winner and the man who will face Brad Katona in the bantamweight finale due to an arm triangle choke: Cody Gibson.
