The 2023 Masters at Augusta National

It’s that time of year again that every golf fan waits for, the return to Augusta National for the Masters. The ride down Magnolia Lane is a dream for every golfer and to be able to compete for the honor of wearing the coveted green jacket holds even more rare air.

Before we get into this year’s tournament a huge shout out to Scottie Scheffler’s champions dinner menu. It includes Texas Ribeye and Blackened Redfish options for the entrée. Both options are top tier items from the great state of Texas.

The 2023 Masters Tournament may be one to remember for a long time. The main story line being the first return of the official LIV golfers to the major lineups. This will be a huge test to see how the difference in tournament play will be a factor in determining success for the golfers from different leagues. The golfers from LIV have only been playing 3 rounds per event for the past year with no stress of a cut line. The PGA golfers on the other hand have been in the traditional tournament setup of 4 rounds with a cut after the first two rounds. It will be very interesting to see if the LIV golfers still have the on switch when it comes to majors. The second major storyline which is still up in the air, literally, is the weather. The weather forecast is brutal heading into this weekend. Thursday may be the best day with only 55% chance of rain. Along with the rain, a huge change in temperature is also in store with highs in the mid-80s on Thursday and a high of only 53 on Saturday. These factors will be the ultimate test for the best golfers in the world. The green jacket will most definitely be earned this year at Augusta.

Field:

The field this weekend will be the first event of the year with a full top 50 of the world’s top ranked golfers at one event. A total of 88 golfers will be contending for the green jacket this year, including the return of Tiger Woods +8000 to the field. Tiger is coming off a previous appearance at the Genesis Invitational where he made the cut and finished T45. There will be 18 LIV golfers in the field, with the odds favorites including Cam Smith +2200, Dustin Johnson +2500 and Brooks Koepka +4000. Some of the betting potentials discussed on our DDSN Twitch Stream for some valued long shots were Min Woo Lee +5500, Corey Conners +4500, Abraham Ancer +11000 and Tom Kim +8000. Tthe pressure being put on the top players from both leagues to perform well, mixed with the immeasurable effect the weather could play on the weekend, this Masters is gearing up for a long shot to wear the green jacket hopefully on Sunday or Monday.

The Course:

What can be said that hasn’t already been said about Augusta National? It is one of the hallowed grounds of the golf world. Always pristine every April and even in November like we saw in 2020. The course always shows its beauty but plays like a beast! The undulation of fairways to greens, the tight landing areas, and the danger lurking around most greens, Augusta National has always put the pressure on the best golfers in the world to hit their best shots round after round. With the weather playing a factor this weekend, look for Augusta National to be a relentless host to the 2023 Masters Tournament.
