30 Days Until Opening Day: Texas Rangers
We are 30 days until Opening Day in MLB. For the most part we will be focusing on the Texas Rangers in detail but the rest of the MLB from a betting perspective to assist those daily MLB bettors. It’s no easy feat betting MLB daily but it is a ton of fun for casual bettors who find baseball boring without a little action. Expect these to be more detailed in the future but with it being Spring Training and the entire roster getting reps there is plenty going on. Other than that, let’s get after it.
Game 1: The Rangers are 5 games into Spring Training so let’s get you caught up. First and foremost, 3B Josh Jung from San Antonio, TX is starting the season healthy and homered in game one, which is a positive sign. Also, the younger brother of Ronald Acuna is at spring training with Texas finally, Luisangel Acuna. 2020 1st round pick 3B Justin Foscue homered homered in game one. SP Glenn Otto from Spring, TX got off to a rough start allowing 2 earned runs in two innings.
Game 2: Foscue played 2B and hit another home run. Bubba Thompson hit for two RBI after starting in CF. New signee Nathan Eovaldi from Houston, TX pitched 2 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts in a very solid outing. Dan Dunning had a poor performance allowing 5 earned runs on 3 hits. Dunning cannot somehow win on the road and he can’t get it together it may be time to move on from him this season if depth allows.
Game 3: Corey Seager hit a HR, Jung hit another double and newcomer Robbie Grossman hit his 2nd homer of Spring Training. The acquisition of Grossman may pay dividends for the Rangers this season if he is going to hit for power like this. SP Jon Gray had a strong outing with 2 scoreless innings.
Game 4: The bats really got going with catchers Mitch Garver and Sam Huff hitting for home runs. Josh Smith also finally earned a hit and RBI. Martin Perez pitched 3 innings allowing 1 earned run. Rangers are hoping for another incredible season from Perez. This game showed how deep the Rangers are with position players.
Game 5: Marcus Semien led the way with a 3 hit performance with Jonah Heim not far behind with 2 hits of his own. Ian Kennedy came into the game in the 3rd inning and was roughed up a bit. I can’t see him working out but maybe for a veteran presence. Time will tell.
Again, this is a quick recap and now that we have the countdown going hopefully we can get more details for the die hard fans. If there is something you would like to hear more about during the MLB season, please, let us know! MLB is not a sport that will be forgotten and dismissed here at DDSN.
