It’s Easy.

Texas HC Steve Sarkisian: slow success or stuck in the mud?

It’s easy. It’s easy to call Coach Sarkisian a drunk. It’s easy to spew accusations about him when you are looking on the outside in. Calling him every name in the book because he chewed out a cameraman “doin his job”. The finger of blame is so easy to point when you LOSE. It don’t take much to kick a dog in the ribs when he’s already lying down. Yes, I am always extremely critical of coaches and their on field decisions but when you call a coach a drunk with no evidence, let’s take a breath. Was UT prepared to play Washington? No. Is it an embarrassing loss because U Dub was soft all season? Yes.

Most people forget what has gone on the past couple regimes. Coach Sarkisian comes after the ugly end of Mack Brown’s run, Charlie Strong and Tom Herman. He was hired to clean it up. Find a Quarterback, build an offense and get the defense back on track. Pete Kwiatowski and the UT defense has come a long way playing solid all season. The recruiting has also picked up on that side of the ball as well.

Who is to blame? Who takes responsibility?

Is UT ahead of where they were with Strong or Herman? Yes.

The standards are so high at the University of Texas and rightfully so.

When you are Sarkisian and come into a mess like this, only gold is good enough. Especially when you see what TCU has done this year with 1st year head coach Sonny Dykes.

I feel like Texas is ahead of schedule. During conference play UT should have won every game. Texas Tech? UT couldn’t close it out after dominating the game. They couldn’t get a stop on 4th down. But, the final score is all that matters.

Oklahoma State? UT was blowin’ them out until they weren’t. OSU tumbled all the way down the Big 12 rankings afterwards.

So, is UT really that far behind? Do people just love to hate Coach Sarkisian? Maybe just hate not winning without realizing the actual vision? Sarkisian’s 13-12 record at Texas isn’t something to write home to mom about because the meltdown last season was inexcusable. This program has come leaps and bounds from last years drubbing from Arkansas and losing 7 Big 12 games in a row. Texas beat each of those Big 12 schools this year with the exception of Oklahoma State. He and his staff are building a program back from the ashes.

To me, Texas is already ahead of the previous regimes. Sark hasn’t been smoked by Maryland two years in a row after preaching “1-0” non stop on Longhorn Network (RIP).

Sarkisian has brought the program up so fast he became the enemy.

The recruiting needs to continue to stay hot. Pete Kwiatowski, Gary Patterson and the defense need to continue to improve.

It’s time to leave a lasting impression during the last season in the Big 12 - it’s time for UT to make a statement.
