The RBC Heritage Preview

This weekend we have an elevated PGA Tour event with the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links.

Masters Recap:

It was a great week for DDSN Golf covering the Masters tournament. Jon Rahm holds on to win his first green jacket on Seve Ballesteros’ birthday and on the 40th anniversary of his 2nd Masters’ win. An awesome day for the Spaniard and the country of Spain. Can’t wait until we see Jon Rahm’s dinner menu next year.

RBC Heritage Preview:

The PGA tour moves on up the road to Hilton Head, South Carolina for the 55th Annual RBC Heritage Tournament. The PGA has selected the RBC as one of the elevated events during the 2023 season. The elevated events include incentives to draw the big-name golfers by expanding the prize purse for the tournament to 20 million dollars. These elevated events have been great for the PGA this season so far, and we are hoping the trend continues. The RBC Heritage’s champion will be fitted with the second most famous jacket in golf, the plaid sportscoat. Last year Jordan Spieth was crowned champion and wore the red plaid jacket well. Who will be dressed in plaid come Sunday evening?

The Field:

The field this week will consist of 27 of the top 30 golfers in the world rankings. There will be a field of 143 golfers in total. The big name that will not be playing is Rory McIlroy. Rory had another poor performance in Augusta last week and failed to make the cut. The remaining players who played last week in Augusta will be hungry for a win this weekend.

The Course:

Harbour Town Links is a Pete Dye designed masterpiece that is always high on the list for PGA golfers year after year. The layout is one of the more difficult tests on tour with a true Pete Dye design consisting of bunkers heavily guarding smaller than average greens. Mix in the addition of water hazards on 5 holes and specifically placed trees on other holes, this course will require even the best golfers to elevate their game to be successful this weekend. In addition to the difficulty of the course, this weekend may also be in danger for more weather to become a factor. Rain chances hovering around the 50% mark for Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.
