  • 6:00pm cst: Boston Celtics -4 vs. New York Knicks; Total 223.5

It’s a new season with somewhat of a new look for the Boston Celtics. They added Kristaps Porzingas and Jrue Holiday. Jrue Holiday especially on defense is a huge upgrade for the Celtics over Marcus Smart as well as the offensive side of the ball. What we should remember is that the Knicks struggle with defensive teams (Miami Heat) and if the Celtics take on a defensive philosophy with Holiday and Derrick White leading the way I think they find success this season. I like the Celtics defense in this game with the new additions. The Knicks did not make any improvements in the offseason.

Pick: Celtics -4 (-110) [via DraftKings]

Jrue Holiday Points, Rebounds & Assists OVER 27.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]

  • 6:00pm cst: Washington Wizards vs. Indiana Pacers -5; Total 235.5

The Washington Wizards picked up some new scorers like Jordan Poole so we know they will have some offensive juice this season. The problem is, they will have next to zero defense. I am not ready to lay this many points against the Wizards without knowing what they are capable of yet. Instead, I am going to bet against their defense with two of the Pacers’ best players.

Pick: Tyrese Haliburton Points, Rebounds & Assists OVER 34.5 (-120) [via DraftKings]

Bennedict Mathurin Points, Rebounds & Assists OVER 21.5 (-120) [via DraftKings]

  • 6:00pm cst: Atlanta Hawks -3.5 vs. Charlotte Hornets; Total 235.5

I do not anything to do with the Hornets in this game. You would think the Hawks could cover this game easily with this short number but I do not like this game.

Pick: NONE

  • 6:00pm cst: Houston Rockets vs. Orlando Magic -4.5; Total 220.5

This may be one of the best games on the slate tonight. Two young up and coming teams from the West and East battling it out to start the season. This feels like too many points for the magic to be laying against what I feel is a much improved Rockets team. Houston adds Dillon Brooks (good defense), Fred VanVleet (runs offense) and got rid of Kevin Ports (wife beater / drama). This should really open up Jalen Greens potential. On the Orlando side we get to see the Wagner twins after their strong FIBA summer. We do not know how the scoring will look for Houston so no props. I really like the improvements the Rockets made.

Pick: Rockets +4.5 (-112) [via DraftKings]

  • 6:30pm cst: Detroit Pistons vs. Miami Heat -9.5; Total 219

The Pistons will be without Bojan Bogdanovic and Monte Morris. The good news is they will have a healthy Cade Cunningham back. Miami will have a healthy and hungry Tyler Herro but will be without Josh Richardson and Haywood Highsmith. Miami has lost a couple good role players for them and we will not know how they look out of the gates without them. I like the potential of this Pistons team with Cade Cunningham back, James Wiseman and the drafting of Ausar Thompson. Too many points in this one.

Pick: Pistons +9.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]

Ausar Thompson Points, Rebounds & Assists OVER 18.5 (-125) [via DraftKings]

  • 6:30pm cst: Cleveland Cavaliers -2.5 vs. Brooklyn Nets; Total 219.5

Screw it. I am taking the bait. This is a low number for Ben Simmons P+R+A. If he improved the way it looks this will be a good bet with even money. Taking a shot buying low on Ben Simmons.

Pick: Ben Simmons Points, Rebounds & Assists OVER 21.5 (+100)

  • 6:30pm cst: Minnesota Timberwolves -1 vs. Toronto Raptors; Total 221.5

This is a tight line and we do not know much about the Raptors just yet. Passing this one.

Pick: NONE

  • 7:00pm cst: Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Chicago Bulls -2.5; Total 225

I am not understanding this number. The Thunder are the much better team across the board. I like this one on the moneyline.

Pick: Thunder ML (+114)

  • 8:30pm cst: Dallas Mavericks -3.5 vs. San Antonio Spurs; Total 233.5

Pick: Spurs ML (+154) [via DraftKings]

Victor Wembanyama Points, Rebounds & Assists OVER 25.5 (-120) [via DraftKings]

Victor Wembanyama Blocks OVER 2.5 (+105) [via DraftKings]
