NBA Finals Record: (0-0-0)

  • 7:30pm cst: Miami Heat vs. Denver Nuggets (-8.5)

After having to wait about a week before Game 1 the Denver Nuggets come into these Finals for the first time in franchise history. Although this Denver team has appeared flawless throughout these playoffs they will be matching up against one of the most tenacious teams in the playoffs and that is the Miami Heat. The Heat are led by Jimmy Butler and a rag tag group of young undrafted players who model their game after their leader. Miami plays the entire game with a chip on its shoulder large enough to feed the state of Florida. The Heat will look to use its tenacity and toughness on defense to try and stop this machine of an offense that Denver runs.

This is a huge number for the Nuggets to lay in the Finals especially against a team that has been playing tough as nails on the road. The Nuggets laid less than 6 points in the first two games against the Lakers and this Miami team is probably a little better than them. The Nuggets are a great team but this is steep for a team that has been off for about a week while the Heat should be warmed up and ready to go. My personal belief is that I rather have the team that is warm rather than a team that has been on a long layoff. At this level with the NBA Finals on the line these teams will not be tired but they could be rusty. Also, a Erik Spoelstra coached team will be focused and ready for the grand stage.

I like points in this game with a high up and down pace breaking out with Jokic leading the way for the Nuggets. For me this is too many points to lay with the Nuggets in Game 1. I thought they would blow out the Lakers in Game 1 but LA also beat Denver. The Nuggets have a tremendous home court advantage but the Heat will be bringing a tenacious defense with Jimmy Butler having only one thing on his mind: NBA Championship. We should be in for one hell of a series.
