  • 2:30pm cst: Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics (-6)

Ok, in Game 6 I was wrong having faith in Joel Embiid and the 76ers closing out the series. It was a perfect storm for Philly until it wasn’t. There was just as much pressure on the Celtics to force the Game 7 and Marcus Smart took on the challenge putting his team on his back. Smart deserves criticism for being a flopper but he was the only player to show up and play all 4 quarters. If it wasn’t for him the Celtics would be on vacation. We’ve made it to Game 7 with everything on the line. Legacies, Eastern Conference Title Game and jobs are on the line today. Philadelphia has won in Boston twice so it is not crazy to think they could do it again.

Joe Mazzulla made a great coaching move, which was going with a big lineup starting Robert Williams and Al Horford together. This helps with the rebounding especially on the offensive end. Nobody can guard Embiid. This is all about controlling the rebounding. Joel Embiid the NBA MVP can take over the game at any time but why didn’t he in Game 6? He was way too passive for my liking. Tyrese Maxey was assertive on offense but the 76ers offense cannot run through Maxey because he is not the best at creating for the offense. He is great at playing off of James Harden and Embiid. Not running the offense on his own.

If the Celtics rebound and make its 3PT then they should easily win this game and runaway with it because we know that the 76ers are prone to giving up late. The question is what can the 76ers do to win? Philly needs to limit the Celtics 3PT shooting. Force Marcus Smart and the other to defeat you rather than Tatum dropping 30+ and Brown with 25+. Unlike the 76ers, the Celtics have multiple players that are not afraid to shoot the ball or make the best plays for the team. Horford, Grant Williams, Marcus Smart, Michael Brogdon or Derrick White. All of these players are offensive threats and the 76ers cannot compete with that. Plain and simple. I guarantee Al Horford isn’t missing every shot again. The 76ers rotations on defense are too slow and there is always someone open from 3PT range for the Celtics. If the Celtics make those open shots they can’t lose.

I’m betting on the more confident team, the team with better coaching, the one with the better role players that play with no fear and that team is the Boston Celtics. Ask yourself, who will make more 3PT and have the most rebounds? For me the answer is the Boston Celtics. I also like that HC Mazzulla is starting Robert Williams.

Pick: Celtics -6

Jayson Tatum Points, Rebounds & Assists Over 44.5 (-115)

Michael Brodgon Points, Rebounds & Assists Over 21.5 (-135)

Robert Williams Rebounds Over 7.5 (-120)

***The other games will be posted once more lineup information is available.
