NBA Las Vegas Summer League: Day 7

It is time for the much anticipated Las Vegas Summer League in the NBA where the new draft picks get to show what they are made of. This is a one of a kind opportunity for those players still looking to make G-League rosters and fit into their new NBA rotations. We will update as much as possible with early scouting reports and handicaps for wagering. We got off to a good SL start so let us keep it goin’. We are betting 1 unit to win x.

NBA Las Vegas Summer League Record: (+2.85 units)

  • 2:00pm cst: Cleveland Cavaliers -5.5 vs. Chicago Bulls

The Cavaliers are undefeated and have been putting up some great offensive numbers from Sam Merrill 3PT shooting to Emoni Bates proving himself. This number has been running and we have been on Cleveland every game but I also like this scrappy team. As we learned yesterday we are in the point of SL were the scrappy teams that play defense win these games. I’m going to take a shot here with the dog.

Pick: Bulls +5.5

  • 2:30pm cst: Philadelphia 76ers -2 vs. Atlanta Hawks

This Hawks team is on a two game winning streak and the 76ers were beat up last time out by a Nets team that loves to play fast. The Hawks also like getting up and down the court but live and die by the 3PT shot. The size of the Hawks’ interior should give them the leg up on Philadelphia. I think Atlanta has figured a lot out that gives them the edge here.

Pick: Hawks ML (+115)

  • 4:00pm cst: Brooklyn Nets -5.5 vs. Toronto Raptors

The Nets are very underrated and play extremely hard and physical. The exact opposite of how the Raptors play. Grady Dick had a crazy 2nd quarter but after that he and the Raptors disappeared. Raptors are on a back to back, which is bad news because the Nets LOVE to run up and down the court getting in the other teams face. David Duke Jr., Kennedy Chandler and Wilson from Kansas just bring so many issues.

Pick: Nets -5.5 (-110)

  • 4:30pm cst: Miami Heat -2 vs. Milwaukee Bucks

The last game the Heat played it was definitely a hangover. The Bucks looked extremely soft against the rough Nets team. I like Miami here even if Jovic does not play. Miami should be well rested and ready to bounce back from their embarrassing game last time out.

Pick: Heat -2 (-110)

  • 6:00pm cst: Houston Rockets -5.5 vs. Golden State Warriors

I know this looks like a high number but the Rockets are rested and the Warriors are on a back to back. This is important because the Rockets play some of the best defense in SL and will have rested legs. The Warriors are the exact opposite. They play a soft, flopping style. Cam Whitmore and these scrappy Rockets will have them laced up tight today.

Pick: Rockets -5.5 (-110)

  • 6:30pm cst: Charlotte Hornets vs. New Orleans Pelicans -3

This is an interesting number. The Pelicans have looked great and the Hornets have been terrible. The last game the Hornets played they finally had a great game from Brandon Miller but he was showed up by Nick Smith Jr. from Arkansas. Will they be able to repeat that performance? I would have thought this number would be 5.

Pick: Pelicans -3 (-110)

  • 8:00pm cst: Portland Trailblazers -5 vs. Orlando Magic

This Orlando team does not play much defense and is soft on offense as we learned last night. Portland just needs to make their damn free throws. I rather lay it with Portland than take the Magic on a back to back.

Pick: Trailblazers +5 (-110)

  • 8:30pm cst: Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Sacramento Kings -1.5

The Timberwolves blew their game last night and should be up and ready for this one. I like their defense especially against this weak Kings offense. I will take Brandon Miller and the experienced Wolves team over the Kings.

Pick: Timberwolves ML (+105)
