MLB Handicaps: Wednesday
Yesterday’s DDSN Player of the Game: Logan Gilbert who threw a 9 inning shutout against the Giants with 7 strikeouts and 0 walks.
These prices are per Draft Kings, which are similar to FanDuel if those are available to you. Some use off shore accounts that have more juice than what is listed or are unavailable. If H+R+RBI is unavailable to you then I suggest you split a 1 unit bet 33% each or whatever % you’d like to 1 or 2 hits, 1 run & 1 RBI. You should get + money on 2/3 of those and that will help long term. Or find a way to pair them up in 2’s or 3’s (parlay). For baseball season, I personally bet 1 unit to win X and don’t lay more than -165. This refers most to player props. Questions? Just ask!

Early Slate
5:40pm cst: Philadelphia Phillies (+110) vs. Tampa Bay Rays (-130)
We have another underdog line for the Phillies like yesterday where they are getting disrespected a bit here. Taijuan Walker has been having a great season thus far and this Phillies team is hitting a stride going into the All-Star break. I like fading the struggling Rays SP Zach Littell with Philadelphia getting plus money.
Pick: Phillies (+110)
5:40pm cst: Oakland Athletics (+195) vs. Detroit Tigers (-230)
I know this is a new season and a different A’s team but Eduardo Rodriguez has struggled against Oakland historically. This Tigers offense is not much better than Oakland currently given the injuries the Tigers are dealing with. This price is a bit too expensive for Rodriguez and this Tigers’ offense.
Pick: Athletics (+195)
5:40pm cst: St. Louis Cardinals (-105) vs. Miami Marlins (-115)
Marlins SP Bryan Hoening was destroyed in his last appearance against the Atlanta Braves where we profited nicely last week. Now, we have an opportunity to buy back in on Hoening and the Marlins. This a perfect spot for him to bounce back against a struggling Cardinals team. It’s the perfect situation.
Pick: Marlins (-115)
Evening Slate
6:00pm cst: Baltimore Orioles (-115) vs. New York Yankees (-105)
The Yankees are red hot right now and all of the sudden are now on the heels of the Orioles for 2nd place in the AL East. Dean Kremer will be on the mound for Baltimore who has struggled historically against the Yankees, which makes zero sense for them to be favored over the Yankees. When I saw this line eyes grew very wide. NY will start Randy Vasquez who is off to a flaming start. This number is wrong with Vasquez getting next to zero respect. Give me the Yankees. Prove me wrong.
Pick: Yankees (-105)
6:00pm cst: Cincinnati Reds (-120) vs. Washington Nationals (+100)
Both of these teams have won 6 of their last 10 games. As hot as the Reds have been it would be hard not bet them here with a short number like this but not so fast! The Nationals have been able to hold their own in the 2nd quarter of the season. With Josiah Gray on the mound I would not ignore the Nats tonight. I do believe Graham Ashcroft can build off his last start as well. I am a little higher on Ashcroft than most. I feel this total is a bit high. I like it under tonight in a pitching duel.
Pick: Under 9.5 (-110)
6:00pm cst: Atlanta Braves (-165) vs. Cleveland Guardians (+140)
With the way the Braves’ offense has been playing and how Mike Soroka has steadily improved this price feels extremely cheap on Atlanta. Cal Quantrill has not been sharp whatsoever lately. His name has been thrown around in trade rumors lately as well. I will play Atlanta at -165. If this price gets lower than -165 then I suggest playing the run line.
Pick: Braves (-165)
6:00pm cst: Texas Rangers (-115) vs. Boston Red Sox (-105)
We will have a good pitching matchup with Jon Gray going up against Bryan Bello. It would be nice if the Red Sox were getting plus money here. Instead we will go with the under as the total of 10 is way too high for this matchup. Let’s go low!
Pick: Under 10 (-120)
6:40pm cst: Kansas City Royals (+225) vs. Minnesota Twins (-265)
The Royals’ Alec Marsh will be making his 2nd career start after getting destroyed by the Dodgers last week. Is it worth taking a shot with the rookie in a chance to bounce back? He will be facing Pablo Lopez and the Twins on the road so it may be too much to ask for. I will say, the total of 8 is way too low. Lopez has not been perfect against the Royals. This is usually the number with two aces going at it on the mound.
Pick: Over 8 (-115)
