College Baseball: #2 Gainesville and #15 Columbia Regionals: Day 2
We have made it to the NCAA Tournament where we will be previewing all of the NCAA Regionals giving as much information as possible. The articles will paired with the regionals that would match up in Supers. We will have wagers throughout the weekend and futures plays for the World Series and Regional winners if they post them. Our wagers are betting 1 unit to win x and for baseball we do not go lower than -165. This is a steep price but there are opportunities where the number should be -200 so this is why that is our limit. Check out our home page where all the regional handicaps will be daily.
NCAA Tournament Record (-4.14 units)
Gainesville Regional
11:00am cst: #2 UCONN Huskies (-440) vs. #4 Florida A&M Rattlers (+330)
UCONN ran into a buzzsaw against Texas Tech and Mason Molina. Unfortunately, for the Huskies they have lost their 2nd starting pitcher due to mononucleosis. Florida A&M held the Florida Gators to 3 runs off of 5 hits. Now, UCONN is favored by 4.5 runs with out its #2 SP. Too steep here and I’m taking the runs with the Rattlers.
Pick: Florida A&M +4.5 (-130)
5:00pm cst: #3 Texas Tech Red Raiders (+135) vs. #1 Florida Gators (-165)
The Red Raiders SP Mason Molina had an incredible game yesterday absolutely shutting down the Huskies. The Florida offense struggled against Florida A&M so if Tech can put together another great pitching performance the Gators will need to watch out. This price shows that Tech has a good chance at winning this game.
Pick: Texas Tech (+135)
Columbia Regional
11:00am cst: #2 Campbell Camels (-550) vs. #4 Central Connecticut Blue Devils (+400)
The Camels were a no show against NC State but give the Wolf Pack credit for a great showing. CCU was destroyed by South Carolina and this could be another routing of the Blue Devils. I actually think that the Camel offense will explode today to ensure a 2nd chance to get back into the regional picture.
Pick: Campbell -4.5 (-135)
6:00pm cst: #3 North Carolina State Wolfpack (+130) vs. #1 South Carolina Gamecocks (-160)
This is such an intriguing game. A battle of the Carolina’s. NC State had a great showing against Campbell and now they will be taking on a tough Gamecocks team with a powerful offense. South Carolina scored 19 runs yesterday and I think this game stays under the total. It should play out like the South Carolina SEC tournament games and stay under. This should be a good game.
Pick: Under 13.5 (-120)
College World Series Futures (0-0):
Texas Tech 100/1 (via Draft Kings) [6/2/23]
We will be choosing a College World Series winner out of these groupings so a total of 8. This will be monitored throughout the weekend and updated.
Above I stated that Florida is probably my #1 team in the country but the only problem is they would share Super Regionals with the Gamecocks. South Carolina swept the Gators in late April in Columbia. Gators would have the home field advantage if they advanced so that may change things with revenge factored in. Of course, Campbell is the darling of this bracket but I cannot see them defeating South Carolina in Columbia and then the Gators in Gainesville. That is a mighty task. If they can pull that off then the College World Series would be a cake walk. The Texas Tech Red Raiders could be the team that is being overlooked in these regions. Again, they have to go through Florida but if they can muster that then anything is possible. Yes, I believe Florida is the better team but at 9/1 to win the National Championship I cannot recommend that. Tech played in the 2nd best baseball conference so they are battled tested possible more than the Camels.
