College Baseball: #2 Gainesville and #15 Columbia Regionals

We have made it to the NCAA Tournament where we will be previewing all of the NCAA Regionals giving as much information as possible. The articles will paired with the regionals that would match up in Supers. We will have wagers throughout the weekend and futures plays for the World Series and Regional winners if they post them. Our wagers are betting 1 unit to win x and for baseball we do not go lower than -165. This is a steep price but there are opportunities where the number should be -200 so this is why that is our limit. Check out our home page where all the regional handicaps will be daily.

NCAA Tournament Record (0.00 units)

Gainesville Regional

  • 11:00am cst: #3 Texas Tech Red Raiders (-150) vs. #2 UCONN Huskies (+120)

This is a great matchup Friday morning between the lower seeded but favored Red Raiders against the UCONN Huskies. One could argue that UCONN finished the season on a stronger note but they lost in the Big East Championship. Tech loss back to back games against Oklahoma State that kept them out of the Big 12 Championship after winning its first two games. I believe this game will come down to starting pitching. All of these schools are holding their cards pretty close to the chest so we will see if we get any information Thursday afternoon.

Pick: Texas Tech (-150)

  • 4:30pm cst: #4 Florida A&M Rattlers (+675) vs. #1 Florida Gators (-1100)

The Florida Gators are probably the best team in the country under my estimation. The only reason that has me hesitant is them losing to Vanderbilt in the SEC semi-finals. Currently I would be picking Florida before Wake Forest, LSU and Arkansas. This should be an easy game for the Gators and with this price there is no play for us here.

Pick: None

Columbia Regional

  • 12:00pm cst: #3 NC State Wolfpack (+125) vs. #2 Campbell Camels (-155)

I was all over the Camels last season and then they got stuck in the Tennessee regional. They were unable to escape. Now Campbell who seems to be the Cinderella this season will be facing the NC State Wolfpack. NC State had a solid season but they struggled mightily against Clemson, Wake Forest and North Carolina. When Campbell had to step up in competion this season they were successful against East Carolina, Louisiana and North Carolina. This is a steep price to pay for the Camels here but I am skeptical of NC State based on its performances against North Carolina who is a team I like a lot coming into the tournament. I like Campbell here and then I’ll probably play South Carolina against them if both teams. That is my plan for now.

Pick: Campbell (-155)

  • 6:00pm cst: #4 Central Connecticut State Blue Devils (+600) vs. #1 South Carolina Gamecocks (-950)

Anything can happen but the Gamecocks should be able to take care of business here, which will set up for a great 2nd round matchup either between NC State or Campbell. No play for us with this ridiculous but correct price.

Pick: None

College World Series Futures (0-0):

  • Texas Tech 100/1 (via Draft Kings)

We will be choosing a College World Series winner out of these groupings so a total of 8. This will be monitored throughout the weekend and updated.

Above I stated that Florida is probably my #1 team in the country but the only problem is they would share Super Regionals with the Gamecocks. South Carolina swept the Gators in late April in Columbia. Gators would have the home field advantage if they advanced so that may change things with revenge factored in. Of course, Campbell is the darling of this bracket but I cannot see them defeating South Carolina in Columbia and then the Gators in Gainesville. That is a mighty task. If they can pull that off then the College World Series would be a cake walk. The Texas Tech Red Raiders could be the team that is being overlooked in these regions. Again, they have to go through Florida but if they can muster that then anything is possible. Yes, I believe Florida is the better team but at 9/1 to win the National Championship I cannot recommend that. Tech played in the 2nd best baseball conference so they are battled tested possible more than the Camels.
