  • 5:00pm cst: Florida Atlantic Owls vs. Kansas State Wildcats (ML -130)

FAU the last Cinderella left at the Big Dance faces off against a tough Kansas State squad led by hometown hero Marquis Nowell who just set the NCAA Tournament record with 19 assists. Tennessee played good defense against FAU but the Vols have very minimal offense. Now, K-State has a nasty defense AND they play offense. Something that these Owls have yet to face: a two headed monster. Markquis Nowell is hotter than a Texas pavement in August. He put his team first and it showed with his 19 assists. What impressed me with FAU was how they were able to outrebound Tennessee. What will they have left in the tank? That was a brutal physical battle. Kansas State in my opinion should have won by 20 and it felt that way. When Nowell went out of the game, it allowed MSU to get back into the game. FAU will not have the guard size like Michigan State had. I love the matchup for Kansas State here and its defense. All the Wildcats need to do is rebound the ball and make their layups, which killed them on Thursday. Keep FAU off the 3PT line and Kansas State will win. FAU will be drained physically / emotionally and I feel this is where Nowell will shine offensively against guards with similar size.

***If the line is -1.5 take the moneyline. If the spread is 1 I would lay the point at -110. If the spread is -2 I would lay the 10 cents or ML. It’s all personal preference. Just remember how the Gonzaga v. UCLA game ended.

  • 7:49pm cst: UCONN Huskies (-2) vs. Gonzaga Bulldogs

What a Saturday Main Event we have here. Offense vs. Defense. HC Mark Few and his Gonzaga Bulldogs are so close to another Final Four but HC Danny Hurley and his Huskies have something to say about that first. Gonzaga DOMINATED the boards against an undersized UCLA team. That won’t happen tonight against UCONN! UCONN has great size on the interior and perimeter. I honestly didn’t think the Huskies’ wings were that big until I saw them tower over Arkansas. I feel like Gonzaga is going to have a let down and Drew Timme is NOT going to have a big game like he has had against the small TCU and UCLA teams. We have been all over UCONN all season - betting against them at the beginning of the year and betting on them at the end of the year. This is a huge size mismatch that favors UCONN. I don’t see Gonzaga having another performance like they did against UCLA. The Zags inablilty to shoot FTs is also a major problem. I love UCONN here with their size, defense, perimeter shooting and rebounding.

***If the line is -1.5 take the moneyline. If the spread is 1 I would lay the point at -110. If the spread is -2 I would lay the 10 cents or ML. It’s all personal preference. Just remember how the Gonzaga v. UCLA game ended.
