  • 5:30pm cst: Michigan State Spartans vs. Kansas State Wildcats (+1.5)

On Sunday Michigan State played one of its best defensive games I have seen them play all season. The Spartans forced 16 turnovers but were outshot from 3PT range 11 to 2. MSU is one of the best 3PT shooting teams in the country. Kansas State has a top defense in the country compared to MSU who is near the bottom. K-State also has one of the best 3PT defenses in the country. Even though MSU has veteran guards and big men, they have not faced a defense like Kansas State before. I’ll take the better team all season in Kansas State with the NBA players in Markquis Nowell, Keyontae Johnson and the better defense.

  • 6:15pm cst: Arkansas Razorbacks vs. UCONN Huskies (-4)

Arkansas makes comes into this game escaping Kansas. It took a massive meltdown from Kansas with its missed FTs. UCONN has been submitting its opponents into submission by beating them from the outside and dominating them inside the paint. The tag teaming on the block from Sonogo and Clingan has been unmatched. UCONN will have the size advantage. Arkansas won its Super Bowl on Saturday by defeating Kansas with HC Musselman celebrating without a shirt on the media table. I feel this game will play out like the way it did after Arkansas defeated Gonzaga last year only to get slapped around by Duke. Anthony Black injured his ankle and was not the same after that. UCONN is such a machine right now and are so deep. Arkansas will get exposed going against one of the best offenses in the country. Two good defenses but UCONN is the better team with more size and 3PT shooting.

  • 8:00pm cst: Florida Atlantic Owls vs. Tennessee Volunteers (-5.5)

All week I was steadfast on taking Tennessee here because of its size and amount of veterans on the team. FAU is a younger team with mostly freshman and sophomores. FAU was on fire from 3PT range and in my opinion were fortunate to have defeated FDU. FDU missed too many open layups with turnovers that killed them. Tennessee on the other hand, manhandled the younger, inexperienced Duke team. Duke had all the talent in the world but could not handle the Tennessee defense. If Tennessee plays defense like that against FAU they will muscle them off the floor. Rick Barnes’ Volunteers are the #1 defense in the country and the #1 3PT defense in the country. Duke played their ass off and still loss by 13 points. FAU struggled against Florida very early in the season and the Gators grabbed almost 50 rebounds. Time to kiss Cinderella goodnight.

  • 8:25pm cst: Gonzaga Bulldogs vs. UCLA Bruins (-120 ML)

We have a Final Four rematch from the year before last with what should be revenge on UCLA’s mind. At least 3 of UCLA starters were on that team that lost to Gonzaga. I know HC Mick Cronin hasn’t forgotten. Gonzaga has the #1 offense in the country but so would the vast majority of teams in the Sweet Sixteen if they played in the West Coast Conference. UCLA’s defense is rated #3 in the country who plays a smothering, physical style. Gonzaga had trouble with TCU’s defense but TCU didn’t have enough size to rebound. UCLA plays with a “small” lineup but 6”10 Bona can give Drew Timme a tough time. This is the quintessential situational revenge spot for UCLA. Gonzaga was unimpressive in its game against TCU for a couple reasons: 1. TCU’s Eddie Lampkin transferred a couple days before the game and TCU had no size. 2. Drew Timme is gifted foul calls and does NOT get called for hooking his opponents while he has the ball in the post. UCLA gets the job done and exacts its revenge on the Zags.
