College Hoops Sunday
We had a bumpy morning with the Texas Tech defense no showing and St. John’s just missing the backdoor cover. It was worth it after watching Iowa have one of the most epic comebacks you will ever see. It was probably the 2nd craziest comeback I’ve witnessed with #1 being Texas A&M Comeback vs. UNI in the NCAA Tournament. We still finished the day strong going (5-3). On the season we are (118-111-3) 52% so let’s keep it up and finish out February strong before March. Let’s get after it!

Northwestern Wildcats vs. Maryland Terrapins (-6); total 129.5; 11:00am ct
Ok let’s try this again. Earlier in the week we faded NW in a flat spot but they shot close to 90% from 3PT the 1H making 8 3PT. They came back to earth in the 2H only making 1 3PT. This Maryland defense plays with a little more pressure than Illinois. I’m using the same handicap as we did in that Illinois game and I expect us to cash in this time. Maryland still hasn’t dropped a home Big Ten game.
Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Memphis Tigers (-5.5); total 152.5; 1:00pm ct
This first time these two met Memphis flexed its muscles on the road. Memphis was the tougher, more physical team and dominated Cinci. Memphis is doing everything they can to try and squeeze into the NCAA Tournament field. In my opinion they are deserving but time will tell. They need this game and to win with a little bit of juice. I like the Tigers to run away with this one.
Wisconsin Badgers vs. Michigan Wolverines (-5); total 129.5; 1:00pm ct
Wisconsin comes into this game winning 2/3 at home with one of those wins coming from against Michigan. It was a pretty much dead even game except for the fact the Wolverines turned the ball over 12 times compared to Wisconsin’s 5. These are actually two of the best teams when it comes to ball security as Wisconsin ranks 3rd and Michigan 11th. This is a must win for both schools as they each await their fates on the NCAA Tournament bubble. The Wolverines have not hosted Wisconsin in 2 years and I think the timing couldn’t be more perfect. If the Wolverines limit the turnover they should take care of business for us. Jett Howard is questionable but I still riding with Michigan who has been strong at home with the exception of playing the leagues two best teams in Purdue and Indiana.
Washington Huskies (+6.5) vs. Stanford Cardinal; total 140.5; 5:00pm ct
Our Washington Huskies are back in action and of course we are playing them in this juicy dog position! Stanford has been laying around -2.5/3.5 in its past home games when favored and lost both straight up. I know because we backed these nerds. Not today! True freshman Keyon Menifield is a force to be reckoned with only standing a generous 6’1”. Don’t let his size or hair fool you. Menifield is a very very good point guard that not many people talk about. He plays just like Tony Parker and has the floater to match. Too many points here this Huskies team play hard and will be ready to face Stanford.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs. Penn State Nittany Lions (-3); total 132.5; 5:30pm ct
Rutgers has lost 4 of its last 5 games and is in a tail spin. This Nittany Lions team is fighting for its NCAA Tournament life and Rutgers would be a huge knot on its belt to get into the Big Dance. Jalen Pickett and PSU are on a three game winning streak and I do not expect that to stop here. Rutgers struggles on the road and I expect State College to be hoppin’! Lay this short number with the Nittany Lions because Rutgers has shown absolutely 0 for anyone to trust them on the road.
