College Hoops Friday

The Iona Gaels face-off with Javian McCollum and the Siena Saints in a battle for 1st place of the MAAC.

Last night we fell to 1-3-1 in what was an unreal night. You may have had the same unfortunate luck as well depending on which numbers you played. AJ Hoggard for Michigan State missed the first of a one and one when the Spartans were up 2 blowing the spread. Arizona State had a wild comeback lead by its pressure defense sending the game to overtime except they fell short. In what was an all time bad beat sequence Arizona blew the 5.5 cover. Tubelis for U of A missed a WIDE OPEN dunk, Wazzu got the rebound and buried a 3PT making the game land 5. Now at 48% on the season let’s lock in on a short Friday slate before a huge Saturday on deck. We move!

Iona Gaels vs. Sienna Saints (+6); total 140; 6:00pm ct

Sienna has had success at home against Iona recently. Iona is on a cold run against the number as a favorite losing its last 3 ATS. The Saints are on quite the run going 8-2 ATS its last 10 games. Iona hasn’t been good on the road and I think this game sets up perfectly for the Saints especially getting 6 points at home. Woof Woof.

St. Louis Billikens vs. Davidson Wildcats (+1.5); total 144.5; 6:00pm ct

The Billikens are .5 games from 1st place behind the VCU Rams and now face the struggling Davidson Wildcats. St. Louis is on a 5 game winning streak but the number is so short… interesting. I’ll take a shot with the home dog here that likes to play defense.

Detroit Mercy Titans (+3) vs. Robert Morris Colonials; total 145.5; 6:00pm ct

Antoine Davis and the Detroit Mercy Titans try to get back on track against the Robert Morris Colonials. We faded Detroit earlier in the week because they struggled in their matchup against Oakland historically but was favored. The same situation applies here but this time pointing towards the Titans. Detroit is 5-1 ATS and 6-0 straight up against Robert Morris. The Titans have Antoine Davis and a solid offense so I’ll take them getting points.

Buffalo Bulls (+10.5) vs. Kent State Golden Flashes; total 151.5; 8:00pm ct

We have a huge MAC game tonight. Kent State is holding onto first place at the moment but is coming off of a bad road loss to Northern Illinois. The one conference game the Bulls lost by more than 10 points they were out shot 11 3PTs to only 3. They were solid the rest of the way and only lost by 11 with that differential, which is a positive sign. Buffalo has an offense that won’t be afraid of the solid Golden Flashes defense. The Bulls are 4-1 ATS its last five against Kent State so I like the Bulls getting double digits.

Air Force Falcons vs. New Mexico Lobos (-12.5); total 142; 9:00pm ct

The New Mexico Lobos host Air Force tonight in The Pit coming off a coin flip loss on the road at Nevada. Both teams have a recent common opponent in San Jose State. SJSU destroyed Air Force by 30 points Tuesday. New Mexico whipped up on SJSU by 20 points. The Falcons have kept games close with the Lobos in the past but this New Mexico team is on a different level. This is a Friday night Mountain West primetime game so expect The Pit to be loud. New Mexico has Utah State on deck so a possible look ahead spot. The Coach Pitino I’ve been watching has been laser focused, intense and his teams’ play has resembled its coach. I’m laying the double digits with the Lobos.

Light Friday slate before we gear up for Saturday. Good luck to us.
