West Coast College Baseball Friday

Plenty of baseball tonight on the West Coast to follow along and check that out. There are a couple matchups we are waiting to here some additional info on before pulling the trigger but we have a solid base going into the weekend. Don’t forget to follow on Twitter for more updates. We will have all the college baseball gambling insight and discussion you could ask for. Let’s get after it!

3/3/23: Southeast College Baseball

3/3/23: Texas College Baseball

(Betting lines via Draft Kings Sports Book: $100 = 1 unit).

College Baseball record: 20-14 (+8.94 units)

College Baseball on the West Coast:

  • 3/3/23: Oklahoma Sooners (-180) vs. Cal Golden Bears (+145); total 9.5; 1:00pm ct

These two will meet in Texas at the Frisco College Baseball Classic. We haven’t talked about Oklahoma since fading them against Abilene Christian and we will be doing the same thing in this matchup. OU lost so many players to the MLB draft and are nowhere near where they were last year (CWS). OU will be starting RHP Kale Davis (1-0, 3.48) with only 6 strikeouts but an opponent BA of .189. The Cal Golden Bears are off to a hot start posting a (6-1) record with wins over Houston, Stanford and UCONN. Cal hasn’t had a scrub schedule to begin the season and it will be put to the test in Frisco. Cal will start LHP Ian May (1-0, 0.00 ERA) in two starts he has 10 Ks and an an opponent BA of .160. The Golden Bears defense ranks 15th in the country in double play conversions. The offense is led by sophomore Rodney Green Jr. hitting ,367/.406/.633 with 2 2B, 2 HR & 6 RBI. I love the Cal pitching in this matchup and most likely all weekend. Wrong team is favored here by far.

Pick: Cal-Berkeley (+145); $100 bet to win $145

  • 3/3/23: CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners (+400) vs. #10 Stanford Cardinal (-550); total 10.5; 4;05pm ct

Let’s introduce these 7-2 Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners! These Roadrunners will be playing a great team on the road but I don’t think they will be playing with fear. CSU Bakersfield is 3rd in the country in pitching ERA with two stud pitchers: LHP Matt Comnos (2-0, 0.00 ERA) in 13 innings pitched & RHP Ryan Verdugo (2-0, 0.00 ERA) in 12.1 innings pitched. It hasn’t come against competition like Stanford but it is impressive nonetheless. Verdugo will be starting against Stanford ace LHP Quinn Mathews (1-1, 3.18 ERA) who has allowed at least 2 earned runs in each start this season. We didn’t want to jump in front of Mathews last weekend with Rice. The Owls got out to an early lead against Mathews but he settled in and got the win. I will be looking to see how this plays out and then looking to play the Roadrunners in game 2/3 depending on the price. Again, follow on Twitter so you get the plays - it pays.

Pick: NA

  • 3/3/23: San Diego Toreros (+115) vs. Oregon Ducks (-145); total 11.5; 5:05pm

This will be a four game series with the first one being last night and the Ducks took home the victory 3-2. This afternoon the Toreros will be starting RHP James Sashin (2-0, 1.17 ERA) with 5 strikeouts and 10 walks (not ideal). Oregon will be starting RHP Joel Uelmen (1-1, 3.00 ERA) who’s had a solid start to the season other than being roughed up by UC Santa Barbara. Oregon doesn’t have a strong offense or a star in the batters box for them either. Catcher Josiah Cromwick is batting .333 with 3 HR & 7 RBI. This feels like a game where San Diego can steal one.

Pick: San Diego (+115); $100 bet to win $115

  • 3/3/23: UC Irvine Anteaters (-135) vs. Arizona State Sun Devils (+105); total 10.5; 7:00pm ct

One of the hottest teams in California the Irvine Anteaters come into this series (7-1) and looking for more. The Anteaters will start RHP David Vizcaino (2-0, 1.41 ERA) who cashed us a ticket last Friday with a win over Washington State. This is a sort number for Irvine but we do not know who ASU is starting. If it’s Ross Dunn then it’s ASU or no play. If Dunn doesn’t start for the Sun Devils then I lean Irvine here. This is one you will want to follow on Twitter for updates.

Pick: NA
