College Basketball Season Record: 202-198-13 — Betting 1 Unit to Win X
10:30am cst: Davidson Wildcats -3.5 vs. Fordham Rams; Total 133.5
This is quite the interesting matchup to kick off a massive week ahead. It’s a typical offense vs. defense & rebounding matchup. Typically, I side with the team that can play defense and rebound the basketball, but Fordham has one of the worst offenses in the country. When it gets down to crunch time, you are going to want to be on the side that can score. Both teams are also poor at shooting threes. They are both ice cold, on losing streaks, so something has to give today. My deciding factor is that Davidson has won nine of the last ten games against Fordham, and both games this year they won in decisive fashion. Anything can happen in the A-10 tournament, but I’m laying the points here.
Pick: Davidson -3.5 (-108) [via DraftKings]
11:30pm cst: Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. UCF Knights -4.5; Total 135.5
The dreaded 4.5 spread always feels like a trick, one way or another. UCF has come on strong, just as they did earlier during conference play. OSU only had a good stretch twice, and that ended almost immediately. OSU may have a higher offensive rating than UCF, but not in my books. If you do everything below average, you probably aren’t that good at anything, and that is how I feel about the Cow Pokes. UCF is one of the best rebounding teams in the nation with a very good defense. They aren’t on an official bubble, but I think they can find some momentum this week. Like I said, 4.5 spreads are always tricky, but we have trusted UCF all season, and I am not hesitating here
Pick: UCF -4.5 (-105) [via DraftKings]
1:00pm cst: George Washington Revolutionaries vs. LaSalle Explorers -2; Total 147.5
The Revolutionaries have been ice cold and LaSalle has had George Washington’s number all season. The Explorers have some momentum having won four of its last six games. I have to go with the hotter team in this matchup.
Pick: LaSalle -2 (-112) [via DraftKings]
1:00pm cst: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish -1; Total 131
This was a close matchup the last time these two met unlike the runaway game Notre Dame won earlier in the season. We were on ND in both of those games and won. One thing was glaring in both games: Notre Dame’s rebounding. The Irish outrebounded the Yellow Jackets a combined 88 to 64. Notre Dame also has a tough defense that has improved all season. I had ND as at least a three point favorite in this game.
Pick: Notre Dame -1 (-115) [via DraftKings]
2:00pm cst: West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Cincinnati Bearcats -10.5; Total 144
I truly want nothing to do with this game. It honestly feels like West Virginia would come out with some pride in what has been a rivalry game for as long as I can remember. The Bearcats embarrassed the Mountaineers on Saturday so one would think WVU will play with some sort of fight. Even with double digits, it is difficult to put any kind of trust in this Mountaineers team. It has been a dead season after the Bob Huggins debacle and they might be ready to end the season and move on. Pass for me
Pick: NONE
3:30pm cst: Louisville Cardinals vs. North Carolina State Wolfpack -9.5; Total 149
North Carolina State has run cold late in the season and after their performance against Duke I think they may have folded on the season. The fan base seems to have called it quits in hopes of finding a new head coach. Louisville has matched up well with NC State even being very poor the last two years. I’ll take the points here where Louisville may surprise in this matchup.
Pick: Louisville +9.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
3:30pm cst: Saint Louis Billikens -2.5 vs. Rhode Island Rams; Total 154
We have a couple of cold teams here and I would rather take the one that is a little less frigid. Saint Louis has Rhode Island’s number as well. It’s just a bad matchup for the Rams. This games have been close but I’m backing the Billikens in this game.
Pick: Saint Louis -2.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
6:00pm cst: Miami Hurricanes -2.5 vs. Boston College Eagles; Total 148
I have said this ever since Miami blew a huge lead to Clemson: this team is dead in the water. They have shown very little fight and are nowhere near the type of team they were last season. Boston College is having one of its best seasons in quite some time. They have also played great against Miami this season. I will take the points and I also think Boston College advances here. BC may not have the pro talent but they are the better basketball team. BC can make some noise in this tournament as well.
Pick: Boston College +2.5 (-112) [via DraftKings]
8:00pm cst: Gonzaga Bulldogs -3.5 vs. St. Mary’s Gaels; Total 138.5
Two of the hottest teams not only on the west coast but in college basketball. I think this will play out like the last time these two have met. Gonzaga is working like a well oiled machine and they have not played this well since they went to the Final Four. The difference between that team and this one is the Zags are much more defensive and physical this season. I like the Zags, once again.
Pick: Gonzaga -3.5 (-112) [via DraftKings]
8:00pm cst: FIU Panthers vs. Jacksonville State Gamecocks -4.5; Total 142
These two teams are pretty close and that is why I am not understanding this spread. FIU is scrappy and keep this game close with their speed and pressing defense. Jack State has not done well as a favorite or any game lately. I’ll take the points in one of those tricky 4.5 spread we talked about. This one should play tight.
Pick: Florida International +4.5 (-108) [via DraftKings]
