College Basketball Season Record: 17-17-0 — Betting 1 Unit to Win X

  • 1:30pm cst: Tennessee Volunteers -13 vs. Syracuse Orangemen; Total 145

I’m looking forward to this game because I am not too sure how to gauge the Volunteers just yet and the same with the Orangemen. Tennessee has one of the best defenses in the country and this is where they may give Syracuse trouble. The ‘Cuse has one of the best players in the country in Judah Mintz but as a team they struggle to shoot the ball from distance. Again, it is hard to gauge both teams, which is why I will take the points with Syracuse. The Orangemen have enough rebounding and offense to keep it close. There was resistance on thirteen and it looks like it will settle on 13.

Pick: Syracuse +13 (-110) [via DraftKings]

  • 3:30pm cst: Indiana Hoosiers -8 vs. Louisville Cardinals; Total 143.5

Indiana got their clock cleaned with a little dose of reality from the UCONN Huskies on Sunday. The opposite happened with Louisville’s game on Sunday almost knocking off Texas. Louisville has been quite the laughing stock but they have turned things around the best they can this short in the season. Louisville has much better metrics than Indiana in almost every meaningful category except 3PT shooting. This number is wrong and I will take the Cardinals here. I also would not be surprised if the Cardinals steal a win here.

Pick: Louisville +8 (-112) [via DraftKings]

  • 4:00pm cst: Purdue Boilermakers -5 vs. Gonzaga Bulldogs; Total 154.5

Purdue kicked the tar out of Gonzaga around this time last year. The Bulldogs always struggle with bigger teams and this precisely describes Purdue. I believe Purdue has gotten even better than they were last season and Gonzaga regressed. I cannot back Gonzaga against this Purdue front. The Boilermakers should be able to have their way on both sides of the ball. I don’t think the Gonzaga defense is not strong enough to give Edey and the rest of the team trouble.

Pick: Purdue -5 (-108) [via DraftKings]

  • 4:30pm cst: Florida State Seminoles -3 vs. UNLV Runnin’ Rebels; Total 150

The Seminoles were absolutely embarrassed against Florida on Friday night. I wouldn’t say throw that result out but it would be a great time to buy low on the ‘Noles after a loss like that. FSU rates better in all metrics over UNLV. Rebels are still very much untested and this is a huge step up in competition for them. I’ll buy low and take my chances with this number.

Pick: Florida State -3 (-108) [via DraftKings]

  • 5:00pm cst: Wisconsin Badgers vs. Virginia Cavaliers -3; Total 124.5

This should be one of those slow slugfest games, which will play right into Virginia’s hands. I was disappointed with the game Wisconsin played against Tennessee at home. This Virginia team may be a couple notches better than those Volunteers. I do not understand this number. Virginia rates highly on offense and defense and should be able to dominate the Badgers.

Pick: Virginia -3 (-110) [via DraftKings]

  • 6:00pm cst: UCONN Huskies -7 vs. Texas Longhorns; Total 145

UCONN is off to a hot start and just finished a thrashing of Indiana last night while Texas escaped Louisville on a buzzer beater. I wish we were able to see this matchup in the Final Four last year. Rodney Terry is still trying to figure out his rotations but the Longhorns are not that far from UCONN in my opinion. Texas will have some size to matchup with the Huskies. Something they have not had to deal much with yet. This number opened up at 5.5 and quickly moved to 6 and I think that is a bit closer to being correct. Now that the number has moved to 7 I think it is time to buy on the Longhorns and the tough defense they play. This should be a great game.

Pick: Longhorns +7 (-110) [via DraftKings]

  • 7:30pm cst: West Virginia Mountaineers vs. SMU Mustangs -4; Total 143

I expect the Mustangs to really put the clamps down on the Mountaineers. West Virginia has been struggling offensively against some pretty poor competition. SMU just played one of the best defensive teams in the country in Texas A&M and played with them for a half or so. WVU is still trying to figure out its roster full of transfers. I will lay it with the SMU defense here.

Pick: SMU -4 (-110) [via DraftKings]

  • 10:30pm cst: UCLA Bruins vs. Marquette Golden Eagles -5.5; Total 141.5

This should be a defensive grind out game. Both teams love to play defense and they do it at a high level. Marquette may have the more veteran team but I am not too sure they should be laying 5.5 on a neutral against UCLA. The Bruins have plenty of size to try and slow down the Golden Eagles. I rather take the points here. Bruins do struggle to shoot the three, which is what worries me the most.

Pick: UCLA +6 (-110) [via Caesars]

  • 11:30pm cst: California Bears -vs. UTEP Miners -2.5; Total 141

UTEP is the better team in my opinion. The Miners are off to a hot start and have much better metrics in every important category for me. The Miners’ lack of rebounding is the only thing that scares me in this one. I am banking on their offense to stay hot.

Pick: UTEP -2.5 (-112) [via DraftKings]
