College Basketball Season Record: 120-103-9 — Betting 1 Unit to Win X

  • 11:00am cst: Marquette Golden Eagles vs. St. John’s Red Storm -1.5; Total 155.5

Marquette struggles away from home and the Johnnies have been on a road trip where they lost back-to-back games. This game will be played in Madison Square Garden as well instead of on Lou Carnesecca court. The Golden Eagles will be going up against a pissed off Rick Pitino and St. John’s team on Saturday. This is great for the Johnnies because that means they will be playing tough defense and rebounding. Marquette is not a good rebounding team and I believe they will struggle in this game. I’m backing Pitino here.

Pick: St. John’s -1.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]

  • 11:00am cst: Virginia Tech vs. North Carolina State -4; Total 146.5

This NC State team is quietly in second place in the ACC. Now they face a Virginia Tech team that prefers to play at home. NC State likes to run and shoot the three. They will be much more athletic than Virginia Tech. I’m laying the short number with a red hot NC State team at home.

Pick: NC State -4 (-115) [via DraftKings]

  • 11:00am cst: Baylor Bears vs. Texas Longhorns -2.5; Total 146.5

Head coach Rodney Terry and his team were embarrassed at home against the UCF Knights. UCF dominated the Longhorns on the glass and inside the paint. Last year when the Longhorns dropped back-to-back games against stiff competition they hosted #3 Kansas and smoked the Jayhawks. I expect to see the Longhorns’ best game especially on defense. When I was typing this Texas went from -1.5 to -3. After I wrote this it jumped to Texas -4.5 around 11:20pm cst. I like Texas to have their best game of the season.

Pick: Texas -2.5 (-108) [via DraftKings]

  • 12:00pm cst: South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Arkansas Razorbacks -3.5; Total 141.5

Another game and we ask the same question: which Arkansas team will show up at Bud Walton Arena? The Razorbacks had their second best (Duke) game of the year against A&M this week and somehow almost loss after blowing a 20 point lead. South Carolina is truly a home team only although they did beat Mizzou, which I was not expecting. If that win against A&M does not catapult this Razorbacks team to go on a run then nothing will. I’m holding my nose and backing the Razorbacks at home. If the crowd is anything like it was against A&M we will be in good shape.

Pick: Arkansas -3.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]

  • 1:00pm cst: Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Tennessee Volunteers -5.5; Total 156.5

From the outside looking in it appears like this Alabama is on fire. They are but it has been against the bottom dwellers of the SEC: SC and Mizzou. I think they will struggle against a bigger, aggressive Tennessee team. The Vols rank in the top 40 in 3PT defense and Alabama relies heavily on the three ball. I like the Tennessee defense to take care of business and there is no player hotter than Dalton Knecht right now.

Pick: Tennessee -5.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]

  • 1:00pm cst: Iowa State Cyclones vs. TCU Horned Frogs -4; Total 144

Iowa State has had the advantage in this matchup in the past but as we talk about weekly, this ISU team is not close to those teams of the last couple of years. TCU showed me a lot in their game against Cincinnati where they lost in OT. The TCU defense is going to give Iowa State some issues here. I like this TCU team and some how this line is shorter than when they hosted Oklahoma.

Pick: TCU -4 (-110) [via Caesars]

  • 3:00pm cst: Clemson Tigers -2 vs. Florida State Seminoles; Total 151.5

Again, this Florida State team is being disrespected, which is good for us. Florida State is tied for second place in the ACC and Clemson is coming off a home OT loss to GT. The Tigers have been unimpressive since their defeated TCU. The last time the Seminoles saw this Clemson team they were smacked around by 40 points. I don’t think the ‘Noles have forgotten about that.

Pick: Florida State +2 (-108) [via DraftKings]

  • 5:00pm cst: BYU Cougars vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders -2; Total 147

This is a simple one. Texas Tech got their teeth kicked in by the Houston Cougars. I expect the Red Raiders to have a strong showing especially on the defensive side of the ball. BYU lives and dies by the three point shot. If Tech can chase them off the line then they’ll be successful in this one.

Pick: Texas Tech -2 (-110) [via DraftKings]

  • 8:00pm cst: Washington Huskies vs. Stanford Cardinal -2; Total 158

This Stanford team continues to be disrespected in the market. Much of that has to do with nobody really watching them play. Washington is a decent squad but they are much better at home than on the road. I will gladly lay this short number with Stanford.

Pick: Stanford -2 (-110) [via DraftKings]
