11:00am cst: Penn State Nittany Lions -14 vs. Illinois Fighting Illini; Total 48
As we saw last Friday night, this Illinois team cannot defend the run. They could not defend the run against Toledo either. Penn State has a great young quarterback in Drew Allar but they also have two great running backs that will give Illinois everything they can handle. This Penn State offense should be too powerful in this game. I will lay the points with the Nittany Lions and I also like this game to go over the total. Illinois QB always gives them a chance to score and if they can get 14 to 17 points that would be ideal today.
Pick: Penn State -14 (-110) & Over 48 (-110) [via DraftKings]
11:00am cst: LSU Tigers -9.5 vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs; Total 54
We have what looks to be a solid SEC matchup to start the day. It will be the so far not so good rushing defense of LSU against the strong running game for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Bulldogs were not impressive against Arizona last weekend but with this look ahead spot it makes sense and they still won the game. If the Bulldogs can play defense and after forcing five turnovers last weekend and only winning by 7 in OT it does concern me. Today is a new day and I am willing to back this Mississippi State running game.
Pick: Mississippi State +9.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
2:30pm cst: South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Georgia Bulldogs -26.5; Total 54.5
This seems like a large number but Georgia has covered it the last three meetings. The main matchup to watch in this game will be the South Carolina offensive line against the Georgia Bulldogs pass rush. The Cocks have one of the worst offensive lines in the country as we saw in their game against North Carolina. UNC looked like an NFL team. Now image this Georgia defense against them… Exactly. Huge number but I will lay the points. Even the South Carolina team last year who was better and at home could not even muster up a fight. Now on the road - Go Dawgs.
Pick: Georgia -26.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
4:00pm cst: Washington Huskies -16.5 vs. Michigan State Spartans; Total 56
There has been plenty of drama surrounding the Michigan State Spartans team this week with the dismissal of their now ex head coach Mel Tucker. Washington brings in its high powered offense but the Spartans have found an offense of their own with QB Noah Kim at the helm. I have a feeling that the Spartans will have a spirited effort today. I am looking for plenty of points in this game with a lot of passing to be expected.
Pick: Over 56 (-110) [via DraftKings]
6:30pm cst: BYU Cougars vs. Arkansas Razorbacks -8; Total 48
The Razorbacks destroyed this Cougars team in Provo last year when BYU in my opinion had a much better team. Now they will be on the road against a strong Arkansas team. Not as good up front as they were last year but still in my opinion a better team than BYU. The BYU offense is what scares me as they have struggled to put points up especially against Sam Houston State who has a great defense but are undersized. Now, they must go up against an SEC team. I really like Arkansas here to out power BYU.
Pick: Arkansas -8 (-110) [via DraftKings]
7:00pm cst: TCU Horned Frogs -7.5 vs. Houston Cougars; Total 64
I think it is time to upgrade this Houston team. They did struggle against Rice but made a comeback to win the game. It is the Cougars defense that had a great game against UTSA but did not show up against Rice. TCU is definitely a school we massively downgraded coming into the season and lowered even more after the Colorado game (we had Colorado in that one). Too many points in my opinion on the road. TCU has showed nothing that they deserve to be more than 1 touchdown favorite against a stout Houston team. I’m taking the Cougars and their defense against an overrated TCU squad.
Pick: Houston +7.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
9:00pm cst: Colorado State Rams vs. Colorado Buffaloes -23*; Total 63
I put an asterisk on the -23 spread because we gave this one out a couple days ago early on X (follow us). I would still lay 24 points. We know this Colorado team responds well when they get “disrespected”. Nobody (except us) had Colorado competing with TCU, much less winning that game but they did with that extra motivation. Now, CSU head coach gave Coach Prime and the Buffaloes that added motivation going into a rivalry game in prime time (no pun intended). Colorado State struggled with Washington State at home who is another great team like Colorado. So I have a feeling CSU will have problems with the Buffs speed and playmaking ability. I also like the way the Colorado defense has improved from Week 1. I’m laying the points. Wazzu destroyed this CSU team and now the game will be in Bolder. Please.
Pick: Colorado -23 (-110) [via DraftKings]
