  • 7:00pm cst: Clemson Tigers -12 vs. Duke Blue Devils; Total 54.5

We cap off Week 1 with an ACC matchup between the Clemson Tigers and the Duke Blue Devils. Clemson returns plenty of talent including star running back Will Shipley along with sophomore QB Cade Klubnik. There is plenty of talent returning on both sides of the ball for the Tigers. Their defensive line is not as great as it has been in years past but they are still talented. Duke is coming off on of their best seasons in school history behind returning QB Riley Leonard and their speedy offense. They also bring back a strong defense especially on the defensive line. The problem for Duke is that they did not have a difficult schedule last season but they definitely do this year and it starts with Clemson. I think this game may end up like the Oregon State vs. San Jose State game yesterday. Some hype for the underdog with an offense but they may be overpowered and outmatched. Clemson has the athletes at the skill positions and their strength has been the running game, something Duke’s defense has struggled with. With new offensive coordinator Garrett Riley for the Tigers I expect them to be fast and aggressive. I will lay the points here with Clemson because I feel like they have the stronger offense, better athletes and should be able to dominate in the running game. If the Clemson defense can force an early turnover or stop the Duke offense I could see the Tigers running away with this one.

Pick: Clemson -12 (-110) [via Circa / Caesars / BetOnline]
