11:00am cst: Northwestern Wildcats vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights -6; Total 39.5
It’s time to chop the wood. The Rutgers Scarlet Knights have plenty of talent returning especially no the defensive side of the ball. It is no surprise that NW has had a drama filled offseason and I am sure it is still going on behind closed doors. Rutgers has the better coach and team. This feels like a short number and Rutgers should be favored by at least a TD today. Rutgers has never beaten NW (0-2) so I think it is time for a little revenge. If the Rutgers’ QB can limit turnover and lean on defense and coaching they will be successful.
Pick: Rutgers -6 (-110) [via Circa / Caesar’s]
2:30pm cst: Oregon State Beavers -16 vs. San Jose State Spartans; Total 55
Oregon State is coming into this season with a lot of expectations in what appears to be a loaded Pac-12 conference that is up for grabs. They have DJU under center who is finally out of Dabo Swinney’s very conservative passing offense but the Beavers are still a power running team. As we saw these San Jose Spartans against USC last Saturday, they have no fear. They went toe to toe with the Trojans even though USC has a terrible defense they have the ability to score points. Oregon State does not have a look ahead spot and should have seen plenty of tape on the Spartans by now. SJSU will be up against a tougher team and defense but this is too many points to lay on the road in my opinion. There are some 16.5’s out there at the Golden Nugget.
Pick: San Jose State +16 (-110) [via Circa / Caesar’s]
6:30pm cst: LSU Tigers -1.5 vs. Florida State Seminoles; Total 56.5
Time for the main event of the night! The LSU Tigers have not been short of any trash talk leading up to this game and that includes head coach Brian Kelly getting in on it too. Jayden Daniels has apparently improved his passing but we will see. The thing is, this Florida State defense almost all returns and they gave Daniels hell. They also wrote the textbook on how to limit / stop him. I get the love for LSU getting revenge but I don’t see it. There has been a lot of talk about the best QBs in the country last night but it seems people have forgotten Jordan Travis plays tonight. He is just as good as anyone if not better. Florida State also plays at “home” in Orlando. It will probably be a split crowd I’m assuming. I love Florida State here, I am high on Jordan Travis and the Seminoles. How about a little “Seminole Win” tonight. This line will probably fluctuate all day.
Pick: Florida State +1.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
