11:00am cst: Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Ohio State Buckeyes -4.5; Total 46
Both teams are coming off blowout wins last week. Now they face off in a top 10 battle. Ohio State has a great win on its resume after defeating Notre Dame on the road. Penn State’s best win is probably against West Virginia, but it also shut out Iowa 31-0 on the road. The Buckeyes have their offense firing on all cylinders, but I like this Penn State defense. The Nittany Lions defense ranks No. 1 in the country in yards per game allowed. The Buckeyes are not far behind at No. 7, but I rate Penn State higher. This game feels like it will be a grind-out game like the Ohio State-Notre Dame game. I made this Ohio State minus 3, so I am taking the points here with Penn State. Let’s not forget, Penn State struggled against OSU last year with bad quarterback play. Now, Drew Allar is a huge step up in my opinion.
Pick: Penn State +4.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
2:30pm cst: Tennessee Volunteers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide -8.5; Total 47.5
I have been saying all week that Alabama is going to smoke Tennessee, so now it’s time I put my money where my mouth is. Last Saturday on TikTok, I spoke multiple times about the Texas A&M-Tennessee game. Watching Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel call that game was infuriating, to say the least. He continues to throw the ball with Joe Milton, who has not found his groove with his accuracy yet. The Vols have such a strong running game, but it feels like it gets ignored far too often. Alabama has one of the best run defenses in the country. I think the Tide will force Tennessee to pass, which is where they will turn Milton over. Don’t think Alabama has forgotten the way the Vols won and celebrated last season. Roll Tide.
Pick: Alabama -8.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
2:30pm cst: South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Missouri Tigers -7.5; Total 58
I have sold all of my South Carolina shares. Head coach Shane Beamer is brain-dead. Last week, he blamed the blown loss to Florida on his players rather than taking any responsibility. I still have my Spencer Rattler shares as he is having a great season in a tough situation. This Missouri team is on a tear and should be able to take advantage of the Gamecocks. Missouri killed a better South Carolina team on the road last year, and the Gamecocks defense was destroyed by Florida’s offense. I like Mizzou big here. The hook on the 7 is begging for Gamecocks money.
Pick: Missouri -7.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
2:30pm cst: Minnesota Golden Gophers vs. Iowa Hawkeyes -3.5; Total 30.5
Iowa is coming off a huge road win against Wisconsin. Tanner Mordecai was injured, but Iowa still held on for the victory. The Hawkeyes have a lot of history on their side in this game as well. The total is short, so we know we should expect a grind-out game. This is definitely a stinker, but I am going with history and a Hawkeye team flying below the radar with a weak Gopher team on deck.
Pick: Iowa -3.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
2:30pm cst: Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. West Virginia Mountaineers; Total 48.5
Oklahoma State is finally away from Stillwater, where it just had its two biggest wins of the season against Kansas State and Kansas. Now it must travel to Morgantown to face a tough West Virginia team coming off a painful Hail Mary loss to Houston. West Virginia will have a little bit of extra rest, at home where I like it to take care of business with Big 12 Championship ambitions. WVU just needs to slow down Ollie Gordon II.
Pick: West Virginia -3 (-110) [via DraftKings]
6:000m cst: Texas Tech Red Raiders -3 vs. BYU Cougars; Total 51
Earlier in the week, we gave out BYU plus 4.5. When I first saw this matchup, I thought BYU would be favored. Texas Tech has been unimpressive this season, and using injuries as an excuse would be ridiculous. Its defense has more holes than Swiss cheese. BYU just got its teeth kicked in by TCU and now has a night game at home in Provo. I expect a spirited performance tonight from BYU in front of a crowd that has not seen it in a couple of weeks. Tech QB Behren Morton is coming off an injury, but I do not think it will matter.
Pick: BYU +3 (-110) [via DraftKings]
6:30pm cst: Michigan Wolverines -24.5 vs. Michigan State Spartans; Total 46
There is a huge number here that I think the Spartans may be able to sneak inside. The move to freshman quarterback Katin Houser may be the answer the Spartans have been looking for. Then again, I thought that about Noah Kim, but he was exposed in the Washington game. If Michigan State can score in the double digits, I think it can keep this game close. The Spartans do not have a Michigan-level defense, but it still ranks in the top 40.
Pick: Michigan State +24.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
7:00pm cst: Utah Utes vs. USC Trojans -7; Total 52
We faded the Trojans the past two weeks for a couple of reasons: they have a weak defense and Caleb Williams struggles against tough defenses. Utah has a tough defense. This Utah team has been USC’s kryptonite. I believe Bryson Barnes will be starting for Utah at quarterback, and I rate him higher than Nate Johnson because of his passing ability. Utah should be locked in, and the weak USC defense is not going to make it difficult for them. Too many points here. Utes!
Pick: Utah +7 (-115) [via Caesars]
