  • 6:00pm cst: Florida International Panthers vs. Sam Houston State Bearkats -5.5; Total 41.5

We have an interesting game here with a more interesting number. Sam Houston State has lost 10 straight FBS games and are now favored by 5.5 at home. Something smells a bit fishy here. I thought this number was going to maybe 1 to 3 points with Sam Houston being favored. Especially after FIU got destroyed by UTEP at home. Sam Houston has been playing tough but has been unable to finish any games. Whichever team wins the turnover battle will win the game. It sounds like QB Keyone Jenkins will start for FIU. I am going to take the points here based on principle: Don’t lay 5.5 points with a team that has not won a game straight up ever in the FBS. There may be some home magic and I expect the Bearkats to be game tonight but I am betting based on facts here. I made my number that aligns with FIU and I’m rolling the dice.

Pick: Florida International +5.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]

  • 8:00pm cst: New Mexico State Aggies -3 vs. UTEP Miners; Total 47.5

Tonight we have the Battle of I-10. NMSU quarterback Diego Paiva is red hot and so are the Aggies but the UTEP Miners may have a found a QB of their own in 4th stringer Cade McConnell. UTEP has a decent defense that is about the same as NMSU. This game will definitely come down to quarterback play. We know that Paiva is a gunslinger who loves to let the ball go, which sometimes gets him into trouble. If McConnell avoids turnovers and UTEP establishes the run game with their running back corps they will find success on offense. Historically UTEP has been great at home in this rivalry winning 11 of 13 in El Paso. I’ll take the Miners in the Battle of I-10. This should be a great game.

Pick: UTEP +3 (-110) [via DraftKings]
