11:00am cst: Oklahoma Sooners vs. Texas Longhorns -5.5; Total 60.5
The game of the day kicks off in the morning with the Sooners vs. Longhorns in the Red River Rivalry. Throw the numbers out the window in a game like this. Or nah? This Longhorn defense has been very strong all season against solid competition. Oklahoma cannot say the same. The Oklahoma offense should be able to make plays but it will be a four-quarter grind. We talk about it almost every week, and that is the Texas offense is full of NFL talent. The OU defense is not as battle-tested as the UT defense so they most likely will have their hands full. If Dillon Gabriel can move the ball on the ground like Jalen Milroe did, they should have success but Texas will be expecting that. I expect a spirited effort from Oklahoma after they got stomped last season. This Texas team is too much on both sides of the ball and should win by six or a touchdown.
Pick: Texas -5.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
11:00am cst: LSU Tigers -5.5 vs. Missouri Tigers; Total 63.5
Will the LSU defense show up today unlike against Ole Miss? We know the LSU offense is going to be ready, but this will be the biggest game for Mizzou in quite some time (maybe Kansas State a couple of weeks ago). This Missouri offense can probably go toe to toe with the Tigers. Brady Cook and Luther Burden III will be ready for this one. The Missouri defense definitely has the upper hand, and that will be the difference. I see the upset happening here as well, given the LSU defense hanging on by a thread.
Pick: Missouri +5.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
2:00pm cst: Washington State Cougars vs. UCLA Bruins -3.5; Total 60.5
Interesting spread here. UCLA has not shown much this season, and Washington State looks like the class of the Pac-12 nobody has talked about. Cam Ward is one hell of a quarterback from Texas, and Wazzu will have the upper hand in the experience department. Even if you factor in 3 points for UCLA playing at home, how would they be favored by 0.5 or a pick on a neutral field? I have been a huge Washington State supporter all season, and that is not ending now.
Pick: Washington State +3.5 (-105) [via Caesars]
2:30pm cst: Alabama Crimson Tide -2.5 (-110) vs. Texas A&M Aggies; Total 46
Texas A&M is riding high after a solid win over Arkansas in Arlington. Max Johnson looks to be a solid quarterback for the Aggies, and he did a great job not turning the ball over against Auburn but had two turnovers against Arkansas. Alabama will definitely be the best defense these Aggies have faced. We know the crowd will be loud at Kyle Field, but it is not something the Crimson Tide has not dealt with before. Whichever QB has fewer turnovers will win the game, mark my words. This Bama defense is a huge step up in competition for Max Johnson.
Pick: Alabama -2.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
3:00pm cst: UCF Knights -2 vs. Kansas Jayhawks; Total 64
This is another spread I do not understand. There is no respect for Jason Bean, the backup Jayhawks QB. He can throw and run the ball, just not as well as Daniels on the ground. The Texas defense made him look like a subpar quarterback, but that is honestly not the case. This is a joke of a spread for a tough Kansas team. That is how good UT is. UCF coming off a bloodbath loss to Baylor and Kansas an embarrassing rout by Texas - I love Kansas.
Pick: Kansas +2 (-110) [via DraftKings]
5:30pm cst: Colorado Buffs -3.5 (-110) vs. Arizona State Sun Devils
It is time for the weekly edition of what side of the Colorado game are we on? We avoided the Buffs against Oregon and did not play the USC game. Other than that, we are 2-0 betting on the Buffs, and I think this is another good spot. One thing about this ASU team, they play tough, man. Especially when top competition comes to town. This number has just gone far too low for me. I do not think this ASU team can keep pace offensively with Colorado. Shedeur Sanders takes great care of the football, and if he does that again tonight, the Buffs should get a much-needed victory. I can see this number continuing to go toward the Sun Devils. The one thing ASU has going is they have one of the toughest running backs and players in Cameron Skattebo. The guy takes a beating and just keeps getting stronger. ASU may have used up all of their trick plays in the past couple of weeks.
Pick: Colorado -3.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
6:30pm cst: Kentucky Wildcats vs. Georgia Bulldogs -14.5; Total 47.5
Georgia definitely is not as good as it has been the past two seasons, and it has shown this year. Kentucky is hungry, and this just might be the team to give the Bulldogs a fight on the road. They finally have a quarterback who can actually run the team in Devin Leary, but they will be relying on a strong running game. Something that Georgia will be sure to look out for. Georgia has not been strong on defense, and that is where Kentucky can try to keep this game close even on the road.
Pick: Kentucky +14.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
6:30pm cst: Notre Dam Fighting Irish -6.5 vs. Louisville Cardinals; Total 53.5
Notre Dame has gone through a brutal schedule recently, having faced Ohio State and Duke with both games going down to the wire. Now Louisville will have a night game, undefeated, and this will be its Super Bowl on its way to national recognition. Louisville has the offense; all it needs is the defense and the home crowd to come through for it. I think it will. The gas may be bone-dry for the Irish in a night game on South Floyd Street tonight. Jeff Brohm’s Super Bowl. Love Louisville.
Pick: Louisville +6.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
7:00pm cst: Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Ole Miss Rebels -13; Total 61.5
Arkansas against the world-beaters Ole Miss Rebels, right? Not so fast, my friend! This Ole Miss defense is not very good, and that has been evident since the Tulane game. Arkansas is having the same issues, along with a stagnant offense. So much potential, but they just are not as strong up front as they were last season. This is just too many points for a defense that is leaking like a sieve. Arkansas is due for a bounce-back against a team they have done great against historically. Arkansas also went toe to toe with LSU on the road two weeks ago in a game I feel like they should have won. Woo Pig.
Pick: Arkansas +13 (-110) [via DraftKings]
7:00pm cst: Texas Tech Red Raiders -1.5 vs. Baylor Bears; Total 59.5
Teacher (Dave Aranda) vs. student (Joey McGuire) in this one. Last season, when these two met for the first time since McGuire was on Aranda’s staff at Baylor, the Bears put it on the Red Raiders 45-17. As someone who was on Texas Tech heavy that night, it was a nightmare to watch. Baylor is coming off a huge comeback win over UCF and Tech finally routed Houston in the second half. One thing was apparent in both games: these defenses do not like to play defense. Yes, both teams got some turnovers, but the defense was poor. I see plenty of points in this one. Both offenses can and will move the football, and this number is a bit low for me. The game is a coin flip, so I will stick with the total.
Pick: Over 59.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
I fuckin’ love football. What a Saturday we have! Enjoy it.
