This is an interesting matchup for a Sun Belt Thursday. South Alabama has bounced back and is healthier than they were at the beginning of the season when they lost to North Texas and Ohio. App State is coming off a battle against East Carolina and has Liberty on deck. The game against Liberty is huge because every G5 match now has College Football Playoff implications.
The South Alabama defense is extremely susceptible to the pass. App State and quarterback Joey Aguilar have the talent to take advantage, but he will need to cut down on the turnovers.
South Alabama is unproven, and App State is in a massive sandwich spot laying a touchdown. This spread has moved from 8.5 to 7. It’s a little scary that the line hasn’t moved much, with most people taking the TD. This is still a tough sandwich spot. I like getting the touchdown with the South Alabama passing attack. The team that doesn’t turn the ball over will cover.
